I grew up watching Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, so I'd have to say that he's my favorite. But I also thought Christopher Eccleston, the ninth Doctor, was great.

Tom Baker. He was born to be the doctor. I haven't seen the show since our public broadcaster dropped it many moons ago. Watched it religiously for years, so I've several seen many Doctors, but Tom Baker was by far my favorite.

Wish our PBS station would carry it again.
Don't have cable.

My first encounter with The Doctor was with Christopher Eccleston. So, by default I have to go with him.

Gotta say I was first introduced to The Doctor being Tom Baker, so he'll always have a special place in my heart. Him and Basil Brush, which was the show right before Dr Who came on.

I'm with Jossisagod. I admit that I didn't pay much attention to the Whovian fandom until I happened to tune in for the new series. I now wish I'd caught on earlier, but yeah, Eccleston is my default Doctor.

Eagerly awaiting the next series' arrival in Canada.

The first Doctor I saw was T. Baker, but my favorite? Sylvester McCoy.

This may also be why Ace was a favorite companion.

I have always like Patrick Troughton, but currently I would say David Tennant. Chris E. was very good and a hard act to follow, but David has taken the role and expanded it so much more...much the same way Troughton did following on after Bill Hartnell.
