Who is your favorite Doctor

I have vague memories of peter davidson when I was wee, and I loved him cos he was in 'all creatures great and small' which was my favourite thing ever at the time, but I haven't really seen much of the other old skool doctors, I remember there being repeats of tom baker one's and he was cool but I don't remember much...

so I'm gonna have to go with david tennant. chris eccleston was good but a bit too hammy for me, DT does the balance between silly and serious a lot better IMO

Having been raised in the States, I was weened on reruns only of all the Doctors. However Chris Eccleston came along and definately took the cake. The ninth Doctor was the most human and therefore the most complex, real and fun. I haven't seen Tenant yet, but I'm duely skeptical he'll out shine Eccleston.

I am head over heals about Eccleston,

but I have a lot of friends in Europe who had loved Eccleston and are now all about Tennant,
so I'm keeping an open mind and willing to love them both....

Christopher Eccleston by a mile.

David Tennant overdoes things a bit too much too often. So much better in the subdued bits.

CE's acting was amazing, especially if you're from Britain and you're used to his normal "It's reet grim oop North" stuff.

He had to do something with a role that carried ninety-six years of tradition and a ton of fan baggage. And he was nothing like I expected (to be honest, dreaded). Too many memories of pale Tom Baker successors.

He utterly, utterly nailed it right from the word go (or the word "run" if you want to be pedantic...)

The bloke's a hero, and no mistake.

I love proper acting. That Kate Beckinsale, f'rinstance. You probably remember her from such turkeys as Pearl Harbour. If you treat yourself to Cold Comfort Farm, you'll see something a bit special. Neither nasty, nor in the woodshed.

I was first introduced to Doctor Who on our PBS channel, and it was Tom Baker. You know what they say 'bout your first. He has a special place in my heart.

Once PBS had rerun Tom's reign numerous times, they did a retro with the old Doctors. They were pretty low tech, but it was interesting to see the beginnings. I did like Jon Pertwee and his companion Sarah Jane Smith, but they were trapped on Earth with a broken Tardis. Colin Baker is the only one that I have bad feelings about. He let one of his companions die. No other Doctor had done that.

It was great to see new episodes with Christopher Eccleston. He did a good job, but I still love Tom Baker. Although with all of the raves, I can't wait to see David Tennant in the role.

Colin Baker's Doctor did NOT allow one of his companions to die. He was taken out of time by the Timelords while trying to save Peri...and it was later shown that Peri was not really dead, just a ploy by the Valiard to discredit the Doctor. Peter Davison's Doctor had a companion die (Adric) as did William Hartnell's (Sarah Kingdom).

Thank's for the correction. It's been a long time since I've viewed them, and my memory is slipping. It is Adric that I was thinking about. I don't recall Hartnell's Sarah. I must not have been as attached to her.

Please excuse my error. Did both Colin and Peter wear the celery? Or which one was it?

He was funny, sexy (yes sexy) never went anywhere without that rediculous scarf, and had the best companion of all. K-9

And Leela will be my second favorite companion along with Sarah as a close third.

Sarah Kingdom has always been in question as to whether or not she was a "true" companion. She was only in the epic 12 part 'Dalek Masterplan' (most of which is now lost).

Peter was the young one who wore celery and a cricket outfit, Colin wore a tasteless ensemble that included yellow trousers and a multi-coloured coat.
