Firefly fans have seen the series so many times and say they want more (myself included). But what if it did come back, but it turned into a similar situation that George Lucas got into after he returned his film series from hiatus. Star Wars fans had seen the original films so many times, that they held Lucas to certain extreme standards of quality that were not met. Although Lucas did his best to put out an enjoyable product, the result was basically apalling to his fans. This event turned the entire Star Wars fandom into a generally sour group of people. So far, the FF fanbase has been THE BEST group of people I've ever encountered, but I'm afraid that the same thing that happened to Star Wars might happen to the Firefly fanbase if the series ever comes back.

Hey AWK.
I'm thinkin' if they decide to put back on air and Joss follow's his concept(which we know he would) ,& he pick's up where we left off.
I personally don't believe it would or could ever goe bad,
I could be wrong , but I seriously doubt it!
I think if we keep fighting and keep pushing we'll find out!
Joss swings and hits it outta the park!!!
But that's my belief.

You have a good point, but I think "Serenity" (the movie, not the pilot) already proved that it can come back. And, it didn't go bad at all. It was slightly different, but it was still very well-received and of excellent quality. Fans welcomed it with open arms and it was successful. Granted, that was a rather brief hiatus (compared to Star Wars, at least). But, still.

Well said. Wasn't that well said?

I believe Joss is a MUCH better Writer/Director, than George. I don't think Joss would ever steer Firefly in the wrong direction. Whatever Joss comes up with will be just as good if not BETTER than Firefly season one.

I believe there will be lots of people who don't like it as much, if only because of nostalgia, but having followed Joss for 8ish years now, I would trust that man with my life. If he were writing it, that is. Actually, if he wrote it, he'd make me miserable, so, never mind.

Um, what was my point? Oh yeah, I think Joss would continue making TV of the same caliber, though there will always be naysayers.

Well...I think we have some differences between Joss and George in this aspect.

Joss won't edit the BDM so Mal doesn't shoot first.
Joss will stay faithful, and write great characters we want to root for. (I so wanted Jar Jar to die...)

Although, does anyone one else kinda wanna see Wash Vader-styled? Left for dead, the Reavers rebuilt him. Stronger. More robo limbs. All bad-ass, and having an amazing return to the 'Verse.

Heading for my bunk but I just wanted to say the possibility of the show coming back and being a failure is a real one. But then again the possibility of the shows return and becoming a block-busting,mega-crunching hit could happen too. The fact is the series will have to return for us to find out.

i think it would be great to hear of the series coming back, like everyone here, i'm sure, my tv viewing has been somewhat empty since firefly stopped. but perhaps the movie took us too far ahead of where the series left off... there would have to be endless backstories to fill in the months we missed (i'm sure most people, like myself, basically just wanna know what the hell book was up to, amoung many other question i have), and it worked for Angel, but could backstories work for firefly, and would we be satisfied if there weren't any?...

don't get me wrong, i'd trust joss with looking after my most precious possession, my firefly box set (haha, lame joke i know), but is it better to keep it as possibly the best memory of television we have, or bring it back and it fall just that tiniest bit short?

Ah, the pitter-patter of tiny feet in combat boots. Shut up!!
