So let's say Joss brings it back...

I must protest! No matter how you feel about William Shatner's acting skills (and let's not even mention that so-called "singing" ), at least Shatner is more than willing to laugh at himself. He knows he's no L. Olivier and he revels in it; he knows "Star Trek" wasn't Shakespeare and it doesn't bother him at all.

Meanwhile, George Lucas takes himself WAY too seriously.

And yes, Joss is MUCH better.

Can I get an Amen?

RMMC, you hit the nail on the head. I don't want a Firefly Season 1.5, I want to see characters grow and change, friends come and go, while that which matters goes on -- Love keeps her flyin'. The characters are just so real it grabs hold of you in a place television so rarely does. That's the essence of Firefly I hope we never lose.

Yes, but also don't forget that there was also a 20 year technology gap between the first Star Wars trilogy and the newer films. Lucas relied too much on cutting edge tech, and not quite enough on story and character building (he tried to wow us with effects, and so made a half assed job of the writing). That's why the recent Star Wars films died a death, they relied too much on what was not important. As for FF, Joss deliberately went low tech, so even when it does come back, there'll still be the same level of effects, and better writing (Joss never was one for bleeding edge effects, despite some of those in Buffy and Angel, There were still guys in rubber suits in a lot of them).

For every battle honour, a thousand heroes die along, unremembered and unsung...

Yea, characters grow and change - not always to their better. That's what Joss does. The things, they experience, change them, and they never can go back to where they were in season one.

That's quality and that's what makes it real, but at the same time, it scares me a bit at the thought of more Firefly.

Look at Angel, look at Buffy. Everybody changed, and at the end, they weren't the characters, they used to be (with the exception of Xander, maybe). I fear, that if Joss would make more seasons of FF, we will loose some more of the charakters (not by death, but by them loosing themselfs). And that would make me soooo sad! I could just imagine that: Mal and Inara really getting fed up with eachother, Kaylee lossing her cheerfulness, Zoe pulling back from the crew, Simon hating his sister, Jayne selling out the crew to some whoon dan. Joss could do that, I reckon, and I'd be really sad.

But then again, it probably could end my dreadful obsession with FF and I could start LIVING again!

Love my captain!
