I want to say a great big “THANK YOU” to Fireflyfans.com and all of the wonderful people I have met here. You have all kept me sane this year!

I have been unemployed since January 4, 2006. The company I worked for was sold to another company and my job was eliminated. I got 6 weeks of severance and my unpaid vacation time which took care of the first 3 months. Then I went on unemployment. I have applied for probably 100 jobs in the last 7 months. My problem was that I have worked for two small insurance companies the past 15 years, so I became good a lot of things, but not a specialist in any one thing...which is what the corporate world seems to want!

In my new job I will be a customer service representative taking calls from providers. The pay isn't too bad, and it's only about 2 miles from my house! I have been used to working 12 to 15 miles from my house and in this day of higher gas prices close to home is good! Single health/dental/vision insurance is FREE! A definite plus! Dress is casual business attire (no ties!) and jeans on Fridays.

I will start on August 30, so I won't be around as much during the day. I have no idea of what my internet access at work will be, but I’ll be around in the early mornings and evenings.

Special thanks goes out to…

Haken - for providing Browncoats a place to gather and share their love for Firefly/Serenity!

The Forsaken and the Imponderables - for allowing me to corrupt them with smilies, and for letting me fix and create smilies for them!

FollowMal - for including me in the “Summer of Serenity” campaign, and to all those who volunteered.

And finally, to all of you I now consider my friends…thank you for your friendship!

Congrats Penguin!

Good to here that you are back in the working world again. Real bummer that it took so long though.

May you first, last and everyday at your new job be fun enough to not want to climb a bell tower with a high powered rifle!

Congrats on finding a new job Penguin! As the others have already stated may it be a good one that doesn't make you want to climb a bell tower with a high powered rifle, when all you really need is a good old fashion six shooter! Seriously, I hope everything works for you, and that you come back and visit us every once in a blue moon.
