The posts were certainly dwindling in frequency. I can't say I didn't see it coming.

I'm still willing to play Book though, so are we going on or giving up?

I'm willing to go on. I wish I could say I could take on Mal for awhile - he's one of my favorite characters to write - but it's been all I can do to keep up with Rowan.

Someone needs to put up a wanted sign on the main site: WANTED: RPers FOR THE ROLES OF MAL AND WASH
or is Mal still with us? we need Mal or we won't get far... he keeps the story and crew together.

But I am also willing to go on. I am having lots of fun and would post more often except I don't have anyone to interact with except Helsing, and he hasn't posted much.

I think if the remaining characters get together, we can pick up the pace again. I'm trying to find a way to get Damon onto Serenity without him inviting himself or barging in. Maybe someone could help me out?

Seems to me that Jayne just let everybody know about the gunfight, maybe some of our local heroes (Zoe, Mal, Jayne) can get their guns and investigate. I wish it were more in the character of the Shepherd to be the one to run off for his gun, but it just isn't.

actually, I was thinking that if anyone were to save a dying man just to be nice, it would be Book. the fight will probably be finishing up, but if i end it too soon, before someone finds Damon, then he won't have a reason for hanging around.
so by all means, join me outside, and I'll stop the fight so Book won't be (too) out of place. ^_^

Just added some more some suggestions ...

We will miss both of you!

Both have played the characters true to the series and Joss' view of them.

If the others agree - We will utlize the 2 characters as Non-Player-Characters (NPCs) and keep them 'low-profile' until a replacements are made...

I would suggest that Asriana (Zoe) play Wash, again as minimal as possible, with consideration to the story. Until we get an 'applicant' for Wash. Maybe Squee or RavenWhiteWing would like a crack at Wash.

I would suggest Geezer to play Mal (seems to have the Mal 'flow') as minimal as possible, with consideration to the story. He may decide to do a dual role, since his character was a 'Semi-Reg' - I believe.

As to Dragonfly
You ar both most welcome to come and play Semi-Regs in that RP.

Humble has already come up with a very nice character.

Book is definitely the type to save a dying man, if only he knew that you were there and dying, but I can't in all good conscience make Book run off head-first, alone, with gun in hand into a gunfight..

If I were playing just about any other character, I think I could justify them going down there, but Book is above all, a man of peace. He doesn't go looking for trouble.

As it is, I would love to be the one to enable your entrance onto the ship, but can't one of the action-type characters take some action here?
I can see easily how you being wounded and running from a bunch of feds towards our open cargo bay would enable you to gain some sort of emergency passage... especially since we are apparently heading off the planet as soon as we can.

PERHAPS WASH COULD BE ON HIS WAY BACK TO THE SHIP AND GETS CAUGHT IN THE FRAY, AND YOU GUYS OUTSIDE CAN SAVE HIM AND HELP HIM ONTO THE SHIP. That would make a great segway off the world. Gotta bring Thorne into that scenario too.

Really we just need everyone playing a crew-member to help facilitate those outside the ship back onto the ship. I don't know how long you can keep gun-fighting and make it still seem plausible that you haven't moved beyond Serenity.

I agree, a quick gunfight with Wash barrelling through (did he have the mule?)

...maybe gaining a passenger or two (Squee and Thorne?) via wild swerving...

If not on the mule he could plow into our semiregs and knock them into the 'lock.

OR ...jumps (speeds if on the mule and with passengers) the ramp al la his charge thu the hail of bullets much like in "The Message"(I think)

Book could have been warming up the ship and checked for 'landlocks' ... even disabling the landlock (if there is one, your choice, of course) in his own Book'ish manner.

Couple of things.

A)The issue of getting Damon and Helsing on board. If they just go to Serenity without breaking contact with the Feds, the crew will no doubt get involved and it'll be real difficult for them to leave for dock 4 and the heist. Also still have to get Wash and the Tequila on board.

Two possible solutions (at least): 1)Damon and Helsing elude pursuit and go to dock 4 and join the crew during the escape. Wash returns while they're gone. 2)B&H manage to kill off all the Feds chasing them before they get near the ship. Thorne hears the shooting and figures he can use the diversion to pull the job himself. Wash delivers tequila. Right behind him Thorne drives truck, loot, and all up the Serenity's ramp just as D&H run on board, and up ship and away.

B)Humble's imminent departure (sob) [cut from the 'Zack/Wash is leaving' thread]

Hope Humble can hang around to the end of this episode, anyway. If not, and we can't find a backup...it would be interesting for me to play two characters, especially when they interact. Get to do some peculiar riffs.

What might be more fun, if it isn't violating some RP taboo, is for everyone to play Mal as needed in relation to their own character. Never have a 'Mal's move' per se, but only see him as he interacts with everyone else, including providing his dialog. Would be interesting trying to do this and still maintain Mal's continuity in the story.

Just gamin' the RP here.
