Thank you so much for all the kind remarks.
In earnest, I debated a long time before deciding to post anything about winning the auction. I thought it might stir up jealousy and ill feelings, especially if anyone else here at FFF was in the bidding.
But instead you have made me feel all Kayleed. Browncoats really are the best!
Here's a shout out to MakesUsMighty, my colleague and bestest Browncoat buddy, and the other two 'coats who had the fun of being present at the "grand opening" of the package from Adam. MuM was supportive about my going public, so you all owe him a nod.
Whew, now I feel like somebody should hand me an Oscar or something. 
Zoid, thanks for the suggestions and advice. I'll have to see about getting some dessicant packs. I know that it's possible to "bake out" a used pack so it can do its job again. One question: would storing the script on its back be all right if there's nothing printed on the back? My safe deposit box won't hold it on edge, but I could get a different one if it's critical. Oh, and as to the value, I'm a bit skeptical. Take a look at the other TV show scripts on eBay; even rare ones sell for hugely less than I bid. Ultimately, the dollar value isn't what matters anyway.

Unless the people who initially put the scripts online got it wrong ("Flyspy" said they were trying to be very careful about not introducing errors and not correcting existing errors), there is more than one correct spelling. Re: "gorramn" -- I never knew, for sure, how it was spelled, but I always assumed it had an "n". (Or does it? Based on the last post, I'm still not entirely sure... although it's hard to disagree with the real script of the pilot. I'd say that's pretty trustworthy.)

I would think storing the document flat would be preferable to on end. Dessicant packs should be small enough to fit in the ziploc (pressed flat to remove excess air) without touching the document itself; avoid lying them on top of the paper materials. I was only saying to store the archival DVD/CD +/- R/RW on its edge. Laying an optical media disk on its side shortens its life considerably, according to the experts.
As to the document's eventual worth:
Yeah, if all we ever get is 1/2 a season and one movie, you're probably right.
But, I've still got a very strong feeling that the old girl will fly again, and when she does -- barring hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. -- she is gonna soar like a leaf on the wind...
Just imagine if you'd been lucky enough to obtain an original shooting script complete with page changes of the original Star Wars, signed by the principal cast, writer and director.
That's where I think the Firefly franchise is heading, good Lord willing and incompetent studio execs don't totally muck it up...
One way or t'other, I'm sure it'll be a prized possession, and one that you'll want to properly preserve. If this discussion has made you seriously consider taking steps to do so, then I'd also advise you to search the Internet for expert advice -- or even *ulp!* pay one to preserve the document for you.
Just don't forget to scan the entire document into a digital format first!
That way you can enjoy it without having to touch (contaminate) it.
And once you've scanned it, burn it to an optical disk and vault at least one of those as well, like I said before. If I were doing it, I'd probably keep the document images on at least two hard drives (in PGP'd folders), at least two thumb drives stored in a fireproof lockbox, and at least two optical disks (likewise in the fireproof lockbox) around my house. That's what I do with my tax records, birth certs, marriage license/cert, USAF discharge papers, mortgage docs, etc.

A fireproof lockbox of the sort I'm talking about -- large enough to hold Pendaflex hanging file folders and other assorted valuables -- runs c. $45 at Walmart. For example, search on: Sentry Fire-Safe® Security File, or Honeywell .62 Cubic Ft Fire and Waterproof Safe at walmart.com. I've a couple of the Honeywell makes -- cuz their watertight -- stored in the basement, where I reckon the least exposure to heat would result in case of fire, least exposure to generalized Wrath Of God in case of tornado.
