Thanks in advance!

- Jayne
"Well, that's 'fay fay d'pian'. You saw it wrong."

- Inara (sorry, my closed caption didn't reveal the line but it's just after Wash makes a comment about Jayne's brain)
"----------------. This isn't a joking matter! This is about our lives & River's."

- Inara
"Any chance that 'shiong-mung duh kuang-ren' might survive?"

Did I miss any?

I didn't watch this episode, but let's see...

'shiong-mung duh kuang-ren'
If this is the "easier pronounciation version", then I'm guessing the official Mandarin pingying should be: "xiong meng de kuang ren"
hypothesis: "fierce/violent madman"

'fay fay d'pian'
Huh? I need more context to figure out that last segment. "Fay fay" may be "fei fei" (fly fly or fat/chubby), but that sounds weird.

Kaylee: All three. Dead in an instant. With her eyes still closed.

Jayne: Well, that's fay fay d'pian. You got it all wrong.

Translation:
Jayne: Well, that's a fat lie. You got it all wrong.

I believe "fay fay d'pian" means "a lie that is fat." "Fay fay" means fat, and "pian" means lie. It is hard to be sure of course, but it makes sense in this context.

"Fat lie" is not a natural Chinese term, but a literal translation of an American idiom. So that makes it very unfamiliar to Chinese speakers.

When I find Inara's phrase, I'll try to figure that out too.

given the context " a big fat lie" does makes sense.

isn't huanghua more usually used for to lie?
shuo huanghau to tell a lie.

doesn't the verb pian (2) usually means to cheat, swindle deceive?

fei(2) is fat and fei(4) is useless or waste

another translation may be "unless or deceiving swindle" ?

Any other guesses?

"Fay" could be the word for "useless" instead of "fat."

But "pian" still means lie, cheat, swindle...it is all the same word.

It could mean "useless lie" instead of "fat lie." Or it could mean "useless, fat lie" since "fay fay" was used twice.

Hard to tell, with the actors not hitting the right inflections.

I tend to just go with the "big, fat lie" translation.

Straight from the script:

"Well that's < a babboon's ass-crack >
[FAY-FAY duh PEE-yen]"

And Inara's line:

< Shut up, you inconsiderate
schoolboys >! [BEE-jway, neen hen BOO-
TEE-TYEH duh NAN-shung!]
