Yeah, I'm left handed. And I don't read them front to back, I automatically open them from the back. It just makes more sense to me, and since I've had to spend my whole life doing everything backwards because the whole world is backwards to me, I decided one day (sometime back in HS) that I didn't HAVE to be backwards when it was just me, and started writing in all my all my journals from back to front. And it's a habit I've kept ever since.
And there you go. Now you all know one of my biggest quirks.
Of course, none of you will ever get to see any of my amazing backwards journals because another habit I have is of burning them after I finish them. I don't want my diaries published post mortem and people making them into movies and plays and broadway musicals. Not that my life is that interesting, mind, but it's MY life and my thoughts and they're gonna stay that way.

Here I was thinking the basic difference was that Manga are comic books while Anime is animation. I've never heard the term Manga used to refer to both collectively.

oooh, i'm away for... weeks. And it all get interesting!
Make it rome naples Venic or Tuscant and you won't be needing to drag me! The cutest europeans i ever saw were the spaniards, or the catalunians, to be exact, in barcelone, but then the only other time i've been to europe was a small village outside of Calais where my friends parents had a house, and basically it was either the very old or the very young.
But i am definetly, really really up for a trip to italy.
After D*C has done its best to suck my bank account dry not just now but for the rest of my life, i'll attempt to squirral away funds. and maybe, one day, one far away day, i may be able to consider holidays again.
one day.
I'd love to get my own place and invite you all over to stay, but that is basically what is known as 'a pipe dream'.
ah well.
Manga - i owe everything i know about it to a brit sci-fi magazine called SFX - truly one of the greatest magazines ever written by geeks and shakespears monkeys. They did a 'welcome to the world of Manga' artical a few months ago that i actually understood. And something of it to my brother, who is currently working his way through the GITS S.A.C series. Jeeze, i hope no one tries to recreate her costume for D*C *shudders*
The ones im really interested in are the studio Gibli (sp?) films - howls moving castle etc, but are they even anime? or are they something different ?

Well as I understand it Manga is an artform that traces it's routes back hundreds of years culminating in the 'comic' books we see today. Anime grew from Manga with Japanese experimentation with western animation techniques. Many Anime series are taken straight from manga, but you are right, Anime is the word the Japanese use for any animated film.

Plus there's her 2nd Gig costume, complete with Spike-like billowy leather coat.
Strangely, Motoko's one of those women who manages to look even sexier when she's fully clothed. I can't find any pictures of the new Section 9 cold-weather uniforms (with turtlenecks, fleece vests, and trenchcoats), but they look hella cool.
