I've never had sushi, I want to try it, but the only place that has it is a buffet (NOT what I would want something raw, or even partially raw to come from), any suggestions for when I find a place that doesn't have raw things sitting out for untold hours?

DQBaby76: Sounds like "inside-out" california roll (the orange caviar is usually flying fish eggs a.k.a. tobbiko)
Yep, always good to hear from "locals" -- Hilo and Honolulu...and still on these rocks.
Where are you now DQBaby76?

DancingNeko- I am in Anchorage, AK at the moment. Amazingly there is a pretty big Hawaiian community up here. I will be moving to New Mexico in the fall though, not too thrilled about it but I have to remain positive and from what I've heard its a very nice place.

I've been to Hilo a few times, I even went to Hilo High for a day. That was fun! Have a good day and please enjoy the fresh hawaiian air for me. I miss it!

Ugh, raw fish. How long before eating it live becomes the rage?

Good morning!
Can't say I have had iguana, but I don't think I'd say no.
Eating live goldfish was the rage many, many years ago. And not all sushi is raw fish. Even though the raw fish is damn tasty.
Guy, call all the japanese places you can find and ask if they have a sushi bar. You're very right, buffet is not the way to do it (though buffet sushi is usually not the raw kind).

Mima,
Easy on the word Jap, okay. Its kinda bad form to use a racial slur, especially since this is a open forum. I know people toss it around a bit, but please watch it. Having lived over there, have Japanese friends etc. if your going to refer to a ethnicity, please use the full name. Thanks.
