I think it is kind of fun for the Reavers to run their food down and do things to it before killing it. that's why I don't think they messed with Wash.

And now for something from the other camp.

A quote from the pilot, Serenity, about the subject:
Zoë: If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh and sew our skins into their clothing and if we're very, very lucky, they'll do it in that order.

They may or may not have done something. Most seemed to like to play with their food a bit, but as there's necro's in "normal" folks, there's probably more than a few Reavers that are as well.

Not what I wanted to think about before bedtime, however.

So, we all agree there is a possibility(If wash was an unlucky type) that he was skinned first, raped second, then enjoyed with a glass of chardonnay.

Raping dead people, where does that get fun?

--Pax... I did read it in both contexts. I just don't always make it clear when I do things like that. I'm just ... special like that.

May not be smart, and it may not please you, but you're definitely gonna see what I have to say.

I rather go for: there was an apple just beside Wash, and it grew into a big tree and he climbed up the tree into a magical land with unicorns and a harp, and he called it ... "this land"!

Wash may be dead, however I just felt the need to add this to the conversation...Joss is a genious and master of surprise. If we ever see more Serenity or Firefly I'm sure we'll see Wash in prequel mode or he may bring him back (against all odds, and yes I'm still in denial). But knowing Joss I think he could come up with some genious way of bringing him back that we could never think of, if he wanted to anyhow.

The Bible's a bit fuzzy on the subject of kneecaps.

(Spoilers)

I think as long as there is something to chase, that's the Reavers main focus. Remember what Mal said in Serenity(pilot). So they were attacking the crew until River finished killing them all. They didn't have time to desecrate Wash's body before the Alliance arrived.

And Joss has said that Wash is coming back for the 2nd movie. (I believe. I believe. I believe.)

I don't know whether to laugh or cry! In one sense, that's quite funny, especially if you think of the scenes it's based on. In another sense... it makes me want to bawl! Either way, it'd be perfect for our beloved pilot. How sweet! Thank you for that sentiment. <3

RimGirl:

Actually, what Joss said was that "Alan isn't finished with this cast, but Wash is definitely dead".

Others have interpreted this to mean that Tudyk may do some writing or directing. I, on the other hand, interpret it to mean that although Wash is dead, Alan will be playing a different role in the next movie...

So, I'm thinking a) twin brother, b) clone, or c) 'Wash' was a sophisticated robot and there's more than one of him. Think of a higher priced version of Lenore, which does piloting in addition to sexual entertainment (Zoe seemed to like it)...

The robot scenario, in particular, would explain Wash's reticence to father Zoe's child. He can't.

As to Wash getting Reaverized in Serenity, I have an interesting question that I have yet to see posted: Do you suppose Reavers chew every bite 30 times before swallowing? Gulping one's food leads to digestive problems and weight gain...

I reckon Reavers are pretty self-conscious about their girlish figures. "What are your thoughts, Hobson?"

Gastronomically,

zoid

P.S.
A riddle:
Q. What growls, then giggles; snarls, then laughs; rips your throat out with its teeth, then titters?

A. A Reaver with spongiform encephalopathy. (Or, 'A hyena', for the otherwise squeamish reader.)

I interpret that to mean flashbacks or something.

Oh, yes, one more thing...
