Eat the spiders

Very rare roast beef, shave-cut in pink curls, with a roast onion gravy and yorkshire pudding. Buttered cabbage and the kind of horseradish clears your sinuses. And properly crunchy roast potatoes.

I want my lunch.

Mine is an evil laugh!

Seriously, that would be so gross. But Husband has a book of strange food. Including a bit on a place that sells candied insects. Spiders and scorpions in lollipops. Gah!

Morning, all!
Reading about all this food so early in the morning has made me hungry...
I like Weinerschnitzel, but it's kinda hard to find the real stuff around here. That, and boxty and sausage.
Ok, now I'm really hungry...time to scare up something to go with the coffee.

Morning, everyone. No talking about good food, I'm at work (not that the whole spider thing sounds that good). And by the way, a very enthusiastic congrats to MsG! I hope everything goes well. (See, this is what happens when I don't log on for a few hours! )

Mornin'!

MsG - belated congrats! If I may be so bold, baby-making sex is the best.

SpaceAnjl - Sounds great. I love that kind of horseradish. You know food is spicy enough when those little rivulets of sweat start forming on your forehead and upper lip - just right.

NOW I'm hungry.

Hey, any UK people know of a spicy relish/spread/concoction call Patak's Hot Lime Relish? Delicious on steak. Wow. Just had some last week and my world is better.

Any fans of Mo Hotta Mo Betta out there? http://www.mohotta.com/

OK, here's an imponderable - why do men tend to like really spicy food more than women do? Or do I just not have enough spicy women in my life?

My tongue is numb.

You want a recipe for lime pickle, TrogMan?

I got lime pickle, brinjal, moroccan pickled lemons, chili jam...

And on the heat front - I make a prawn pathia that my husband won't touch as too vicious. And I'm off home to make a dhansak right now.

PS any folks want recipes, just ask. And I want that pork chop recipe, G-folk...

I always assumed it was a macho thing. The only man I've known who claimed to love spicy food and actually been able to eat it without turning red and tearing up is my brother. Anyone else seems to be saying "This is great!" through their tears; like they're trying to impress someone with how much they can take.
I dunno, I might be wrong. But I'm certainly not down for that kind of intense food. As for being spicy myself... Well, I suppose my Ex of Doom is the only one who could comment accurately on that, but I certainly never got any complaints

Yes, yes! *jumps up and down, salivating* Send over the recipe, I can give you my e-mail if you like.

I don't know what half of those things are, but they sound wonderful! I'll try any food at least once, espcially if it is spicy. One of my biggest accomplishments in life was trying raw octopus, sishumi and lots of other New Food when on a trip to Japan (lotsof host stays). Wonderful!

PR - You may be misinterpreting! As odd as this sounds, it is totally possible to turn red, tears streaming, and be thoroughly enjoying the experience. That is what normally happens to me when I get a really spicy food. I love it! The red face and tears do NOT indicate that there is no enjoyment.

Seriously - they're not faking. It is just that the mental enjoyment of the taste is far more positive than the physical sensation causing the red face and tears (which in my opinion is positive too).

Masochistic, yes.
