NO! Shrimp sushi is probably the one kind that doesn't need anything on it! It's so good! And the flavor is very delicate and easily overwhelmed.
And I don't like mayo all that much. Even on sandwiches I don't like too much.

OddsBodkins: I suggest the tamago sushi (the one PR complains about -- the Japanese scrambled egg/omlette sushi). It's too sweet for my tastes, but very safe. That or inari or "cone" sushis...
That or maki (a.k.a. roll sushi)...
Both of the sushis in the pictures have no raw fish in them.
Goat: I thought all california rolls have mayo inside (the surimi or fake crab meat is usually mixed with some mayo)?
Gah...It's late, I have a ton of work to do in the a.m. and I hardly get to post here *pouts*. Oh well, g'night all.

Eggs should not be sweet. It's just wrong.
So cone sushi is called "inari". That sort of explains why my best friend was calling Inara that for awhile when I first introduced her to the show. Weird.

I've been off the radar for almost 48 hours and was having withdrawral symptoms and tonight I come in and find you're talking about one of my favourite subjects ... sushi!!
Yum, yum, yum!!! I love all kinds - but not fussed by the cooked fish varieties - even the 'shrimp' (we call them prowns here!) I usually find it's a bit overcooked for me and one of the things I loved about sushi when I discovered it was that it was not cooked! The delicacy of the flavour is not lost and I so prefer uncooked tuna to cooked!
California roll ...hmmmm.. I do like it! It usually has a smearing of Japanese mayo in it which is not tangy but very creamy and really finishes it off - but Goat is right - it's not a Japanese thing really! (as the name might suggest). I asked a favourite sushi chef once what California roll is in Japanese and he told me it's called California Roll... even in Japan! Apparently it was a kind of compromise to encourage a new market to taste sushi when the idea of raw fish was still a bit overwhelming to them! Has anyone tried the almost raw beef dish? (It's name will come to me...
) I also love the spicy 'dumplings' they make called gyoza, and the onigiri or potato pancakes... if I hadn't just finished dinner I'd be very hungry right now!

Teppanyaki is the beef on a hoe thing, I think. Kobe beef is the best beef. (They massage them with beer, very Forsaken.)
Got a marinade for beef that starts out a bit like teriyaki, shoyu and mirin and little grated ginger...
There's a reason my OC is a cook.

I personally like my beef cooked. I'm paranoid about it the way a lot of people are paranoid about raw fish.

I guess that's part of the joy of living in Australia - we have always had very strict quaranteen laws so there is nothing like the human form of Mad Cow's Disease (or the cow one either) or Foot 'n' Mouth etc. Besides - I don't like my meat over cooked either so I like it medium rare at least!!

I like beef and lamb rare. Husband does a lamb fillet with a hazelnut crust...
But you have to use mutton for a good curry, otherwise the spices mug the meat.
