No. But a little bit of blood and some cracked ribs doesn't set it ahead of American Footbal in the injury department. The only difference is our players take that damage even with the padding.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there was a problem with US football in that there were MORE injuries because of the padding for a while.
The players felt invincible so they really creamed each other. At least untill the padding got better and the players got smarter. (Darwin in action...)

The hard shell helmet has been the cause of most of that. Players had taken to grabbing each other by the face mask and yanking or plowing into each other helmet first. Both of those are liable to result in painfull if not fatal injury and they are now against the rules. They both still happen of course but there are now consequences if you're caught.

its called Football because you kick it with your foot instead of carrying it with your hands

lol, only kidding, but i just don't like the term soccer. Damn Konami for coming up with Pro Evolution Soccer on the ps2, so much better than Fifa from EA

Well, my computer teacher at school was paralysed from playing Rugby. Bit more than cracked ribs there.

Sadly paralysis is a not unknown occurence in the American game either. Even with the pads people get hurt and on rare occasions even die from injuries received on the gridiron.

Or they decide to go riding on a motorcycle without a helmet. But that's another story...
