I too thought there was not enough explanation for the alien in form of the lovely maureen lipman.
Although the costumes and teddy boy look of The Doc was fantastic, oh and the video cassette gag was great.

Anyone else think there were not one but two Firefly/Serenity references in The Idiot's Lantern? "No power in the world can stop me" and "You can't stop the wire" did rather echo to me.

For all those who love Dr Who and missed SerenitysLittleAngel's crossover fanfic recommendation, I'll post the thread here.

It's short but oh so very good! I loved it so much I wanted to share with others and since I don't know anyone in the real world who likes both shows ...

I don't think it was intended but yes I thought the same when the Dr shouts angrily 'No power in the world can stop me', I instantly thought of River and then when Maureen Lipman says 'You can't stop the wire' I instantly thought of Mr Universe. I think it's just us being sad Firefly geeks .LOL

My PC has been in for servicing for over a week (again) so I haven’t been able to comment here for a while.
I liked tonight’s episode. But the thing is, I don’t get why the Doctor was so amazed by the fact that the planet was is orbit of a black hole. Rassilon captured one and used it to power Gallifrey for Rassilons sake! When I found out the episode was set around a black hole and would feature an enemy that the Doctor has faced before my mind immediately went to Omega and the Master (both trapped in the event horizon of different black holes) but no its another enemy trapped in the… event… horizon.. of… a… The Doctors enemy’s really should just stay away from black holes!
The old enemy might just refer to the person doing the beasts voice , but then again maybe not. We shall see next week.

Who do you suppose is in there?

I had wondered that myself, but it's one thing for Time Lords to ensnare a black hole and call it the Eye Of Harmony, and another for it to occur in the way it did.
But anyways.... for those who saw Confidential, what was the music playing for the last part of it, the orchestral piece? It's from a movie soundtrack, but I can't remember which one and it's really annoying me!
"My God - you're like a trained ape. Without the training."
"Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all..."

I totally love the new Dr WHo series. My friend hates it and I found out why. Because he found out it was the same dudes who did 'Queer as Folk'. I told him I hated Queer as folk I thought it was rubbish. I'm not really interested in seeing dudes kissing each other but it was also nonsense. However, in the words of Seinfeld, there's nothing wrong with that :). I told him how homophobic he was and told him George Lucas was gay and then he cried .LOL. I dont care if those guys are gay, green or wearing a santa claus suit, they write a good script :)

Strangely Queer as Folk fixed my homophobia even though I wasn't a huge fan of it. At the time, anything with a Who reference merited a watch. Nowadays I wouldn't have enough hours in the day, what with not one, not two but three, three Doctor Who programmes every week.
And yes, last week's episode was amazing. Let's just hope the second part matches up.
