but also had a nanny francais. Well actually, she was ethiopian, but she spoke French and Italian.
My problem now is that I start off in one language and end up in the other. So I speak Fritaliacais or Italiench.
I can cuss like a sailor in Greek and count to 11 (thanks to the lady that taught me all this at 4 in Athens - she thought it was funny to hear the sweet little american girl say F you!

Mixing languages...oh, yes! I know just enough Spanish on top of the French I speak to get myself in trouble...I'll start out in French, and if I can't think of the word, I'll switch to Spanish; if I can't think of it in Spanish, I'll go down the list until I find it...may even end up in English
We used to have get-togethers in college where the rule was no English could be spoken...the longer the night got, the more fun it was trying to figure out what we were trying to say to each other! ![]()
FMF, the Ethiopian nanny...did she speak proper French (ie conjugate all the verbs) or was it Ivory Coast French?

My dad was a "Communications" person for the Navy. He went from enlisted to Officer (GO MUSTANGS!) During the cold war, the Navy manned a number of the "Communications" stations.
You name it, I have been there - at least on the European side. And all over the US east coast

I spent my youth traveling all around Europe (home was around Paris, but we vacationed alot) back when there was still an Iron Curtain. Never made it to Africa, but I really wanted to go to Egypt.

Yay! Another Navy brat! Though I was only in Guam and then the US. But I've moved 26 times in nearly 29 years.
