A few of us in the 21st Floor thread discovered we have a common love for languages of all sorts...so I decided to create this thread so we can continue our discussions without bothering anyone else.

So, we've discussed french, gaelic, chamorro, had some spanish thrown in there. What's next?

Know any Korean? Cuz I've got a bit of that up my sleeve.

No Korean...but I do know a smattering of Japanese...the obvious (thank you, etc) and the not so obvious (You stop now!).
Korean...that would be interesting! Whatcha got?

I can write it in the korean alphabet, it's a bit harder writing it phonetically.

Let's see:

An yung ha say yo. Chow ee da min Serenity em nee dah. Pan gap sam nee da. (*bows ever so slightly*)

That is: Hello, my name is Serenity. It is a pleasure to meet you. Or something like that.

We had a Japanese exchange pastor at our church for a week back in April. I only learned one word: ah koo gah may. Which means "longing". It's the name of this Japanese wooden doll that was given to me.

Korean is pretty!
The Japanese phrases I learned were:

Anatay yamatay kouroosai! Which means Please stop now!

Also: I ishiite imasu--which means I Love You.

And then: Doshday *and* doshday-mo...which are Why and Why Not.
All of the above is phoenetic, of course.

Welsh? The only word I know in Welsh is "thull"...which is supposed to mean "full".

I would like to learn as well!
I have seen written modern Welsh, and Welsh from the middle ages...and it is a scary-looking language! But when you hear it spoken...wow!

lol.Those are very useful phrases.

For some reason, I can't remember I love you in Korean, but I can remember it in Turkish, which is Sevi seviyorum.
