I thought about the date as I headed off to school this morning. I'm not really one who believes in that kind of stuff, but I switced the radio from my CD to NPR really quick to make sure the world wasn't going to hell in a handbasket today.

I actually do believe in it, but more because I think people have away of making things happen that they expect to happen.
Like Friday the 13th is unlucky for some because those that believe it makes it unlucky...

Oh, I LOVE it!! I would love the chance to learn. It's such a musical language. I can count to 3 and say a few simple phrases like "How's your heart?", which is apparently a form of greeting and I can sing a few songs, simply because I've listened to them a bazillion times, even if I have no idea what I'm singing. Can't spell any of it though(same problem I have with french. I really do love languages that look like they sound!) Oh, but I love it and if I had a chance to learn it....
This is my problem. I pick up bits of languages everywhere. I can ask where the bathroom is in Turkish and sing a song about a bunny rabbit in Korean and count to 10 in Hungarian, but I don't know enough in any to carry a conversation.

I understand that, and that's why I don't believe in it. Sure, number symbology is important to a degree, but I think that some people worry too much about it and they start to see or suspect things on special days such as today that aren't necessarily out of the ordinary, they just haven't noticed them before. It's kinda the same concept as a person who thinks their sick all of the time, and thinking they're sick makes them that way (I know there's a word for that, but I can't seem to find it in my brain files right now).

Serenity, ah, yes! 'Tis a beautiful language. I managed to spend eight days in Dublin in '98, and was thrilled to hear the language actually spoken (rather than seeing it written phoenetically) and fell in love with it. I spent awhile trying to learn, and like you, can say several phrases, but that's about it...brain's getting too old to learn new languages!
