Funny you should mention sword-fighting scenes. I just saw Shanghi Knights earlier today, it was almost over but I jumped right in the movie before Jackie Chan's character and this british guy with two swords, sword fighting inside Big Ben. I thought that it was a very cool fight scene. Wicked fast and lot of "Shing!" noises from the swords. I was thinking "How could these guys not get hurt from this fight?" cause they were wicked fast and looked real.
Anyway, favortite fight scenes:
Duh. Shanghi Knights Big Ben fight.
River in the bar fight in Serenity.
All the fight scenes in The Transporter.
Charlie's Angels2 Warehouse fight scene.
Ugh. There are more but I can't remember any. I'll back once I remember.

I like most of Jackie Chans fights, most of Bruce Lee's fights, most of Brandon Lee's fights.. erm i'm sure theres more but i'm having a moment..
I know a lot of people are going to "boo" me but I like a lot of Neo's fights in the first two matrix movies especially the second movie where Neo fights one hundred or so agent Smiths..

Can you rate a shootout as a "fight scene"? If so, then you have to include "Battleship Potemkin", since The Untouchables scene you refer to is a homeage to the big shootout in that silent classic.

If we can include gunfights, then I think the shootout at the Victory Motel near the end of LA Confidential should be up there. Great scene, I loved it.

I have to put in a mention to Jeff Speakman in The Perfect Weapon.
I took Kenpo for a while largely due to that movie. Course, most every time he kicked it was more like Tae Kwon Do but his hand and weapon work makes me smile.
The 3 on 1 at the gym was a blast.

Not familiar with James Ryan. Although looking him up on IMDB I'm amused to see he's writing and directing movies now. I have "The Young Girl and the Monsoon" in my netflix queue due to the Dead Like Me connection.
