Isn't Eliza's first impression of Mr. Darcy that he is a uptight, block of stone, who couldn't smile to save his life. Now Wickam makes a fine first impression, but he's no gentleman. Mr. D's character is revealed slowly. In fact it takes the whole story to see who he is.
Rather than play the yes man and agree with everything you say or claim to be a the perfect embodyment of Mr. D, I play the foil for you by creating opposition. What you might ask yourself is what do you know about me. Don't I in fact have many of those qualities? Not all of them mind you, and I'm not single, but I never claimed to be perfect (unlike some people).
One day I'll have the time to read everything I want to and everything my friends want me to. I have whole bookshelves set aside for future reading, but enough about me.

I just had a major argument with one of my "best" friends and I think our friendship is as good as over.

I know a bit how you feel - I argured with my best friend and haven't seen her for almost two years -it feels abit like your missing a limb or something.

Thanks seryn, that means a lot. Sorry about your best friend. It's a very odd feeling- to lose someone so close to you. I won't rant a lot but I'll give a brief overview of what's going on. We've been friends since the sixth grade and my friend is now at college in New Zealand, I am at college here in virginia, US. We decided to apply to college together in england and scotland- risky and a bit out there but we both needed a change. Well, she ended up applying somewhere else with someone who was not me. I got upset, she thinks I'm overreacting and don't have the whole story and what was probably a big misunderstanding has turned into a collossal fight. The big problem is that we're both quite stubborn and are now dragging other events into it...anyway, things have been building up for a few years (what we hate about each other- that sort of thing) and it's just gotten out of hand at this point. I don't know if we'll continue to be friends but I think it's safe to say that we're gonna stop talking for awhile. But I'm glad I can come talk to you guys about it...hugs all around!

Sounds like more of a reason than I had (I too was stubborn - I got sick of being taken for granted, treated like a stand in for her collage friends and having to listen time after time to her moaning about her boyfriend, her crap life and too many invented dramas to name. So I told her what I thought one night, then made one reparative overture. Then decided if she wanted me around, she had to work for it and call me. I haven't spoken to her since.)
Hopefully this will be a break and not an end. I do hope you patch it up. But you still have to come to england for uni! Liverpool has three world class universities (hint hint)
