Sashasrm,
You have to see Firefly and Serenity, stat!!!!!
They are so good.... IMHO better than Buffy and I haven't seen Angel yet.. but you have to see it as soon as you can.
Oh, and Embers, I loved "The Pack" as well. Got to see the wilder meaner side of Xander.. very interesting.
And Chris, I don't think I'm there yet...I'm a lookin'.
*goes back to watching Buffy avidly*

ACK!!!
what on earth are you doing here?
how did you even find this site if you are not a firefly fan?
don't get me wrong, it is cool to want to discuss Buffy, that was a great show...
but Firefly is even greater, and you should run (don't walk) out and get yourself the DVDs -
go ahead and get them from the video store or from netflix if you can't afford the buy the set right now...but do not put it off one more minute!

You know, in the way that if you like West Side Story, you'll kind of like Shakespear...

The long journey is about to begin. From the top, as it were. Sunday I ordered S-1 of Buffy via Blockbuster and will be viewing each season, straight through until I finish.
I own S-2 and S-5 of Angel, and may consider buying S-1, sometime down the line. ( I can do w/ out S-3& 4 ).
I of course have a general idea of things Buffy, the main characters, basic plots and a few sub plots. But having watched Firefly many MANY times, as well as Angel at least 2x's through, I know I've missed much when it comes to Buffy. Heck I've missed entire SEASONS of Buffy, not to mention key episodes here and there.
This should be fun.
People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Unlike what some here will say, I believe Buffy is good from start to finish (minus some weak eps during season 1, and not bad for the most part, just weak).
I think I'm with ya on Angel 3 & 4.
Various eps will hurt some, like life...
Enjoy.

well, somehow I missed that Firefly even existed, and then Serenity came out and of course I wanted to see it, but I made friends who were Firefly fans who stopped me, said watch the show first, promised to screen it for me, and then went away :(
hopefully i can rectify this oversight in the near future.

Here's my story of how I came upon Joss's universes:
I'm basically a *recent* convert to all this Jossy goodness. Up until less than a year ago, I'd never seen a single episode of Buffy, Angel, or Firefly. While on "sabbatical" from my old job (read, I quit, but they seemed to think that I was coming back, despite my fervent and frequent denials!), I took a few months off and spent my days working on my cars. By around the end of June or beginning of July, I got in the habit of taking a couple hours off in the middle of the day; I'd work on the cars from 6:30am 'til noon or so, then come inside for lunch and a bit of a siesta, to get out of the Texas heat.
It was during this time that I "discovered" Buffy. FX network was running the show every day from noon 'til 2:00pm (2 eps back-to-back). Being that it was daytime and NOTHING else was on, I decided I'd look at it a bit while I ate lunch and read. I figured it would be "background noise". WRONG! The very first episode I saw had Willow (or "that chick from American Pie", as I called her) as a vampire queen. Then I saw Seth Green, whom I'd like in the Austin Powers flicks and the short-lived Greg the Bunny show. I was intrigued. Within a few days, I was hooked. Before I knew it, my wife was hooked as well, and we decided we'd buy Season 1 on DVD "just to catch up". Famous last words. That led, of course, to buying S2, then S3, and so on. And, of course, once Angel left, we had to check out S1 of his show. And then S2, etc.
It was only after we'd seen all the seasons of Buffy and Angel that I found out about Firefly. This was about a month before Serenity hit the screen. A friend of mine told me if I liked Buffy and Angel, I'd probably like Firefly. That was all I needed to hear; I bought the DVD set within a week (I went the very next day, but couldn't find it in stock anywhere). As a way of repaying him for putting us onto Firefly, my wife and I took him with us to see Serenity on opening day.
And I've been here pretty much ever since. Here's one important thing that I've learned: If you like one of Joss's shows, you're pretty much going to find something to love in ALL of his shows.

If there is a down side to falling in love with Joss's shows, it's coming to the understanding that NO ONE is off limits to being dusted, sliced, stabbed, posessed, or what ever-ed to death. Lovable characters should be the most wary.

Dont see this as a downside. It makes the rest so much better. Just like in real life there actually is a chance that our heroes dont make it. Anything can happen and we appriciate our characters even more for that.
You can’t stop the Signal.
Keep spreading the word about Firefly!

I would have to say I'm a Buffy FANATIC--I have Buffy Tshirts, books, Watchers Guides, a pen, my own weapons chest with stakes, holy water, Slayer Handbook etc, charm bracelet with tiny crossbow, headstone, coffin, cross, railroad spike etc. I know I've told you about my 11 Buffy CDs with every Buffy scrap of music available.
And I LOVE Firefly. You must watch it! It's not Buffy, but it's pure Joss and I think if it had lasted, I might have loved it better than Buffy
