Okay, since this came up in another thread, and people responded quite well to it, I'm going to summarize the idea, and you can tell me what you think of it. This is nothing "official" or "solid" or "sane" or some such, I just want to bring this to people's attention since it could be the solution to the whole June 23rd situation.
Okay, here goes...

To make this thing REALLY big, we not only do Serenity Day, we do a Serenity Summer Campaign which STARTS on June 23rd and ENDS on September 30th, which would be the official Serenity Day.
We kick off the campaign by helping the Serenity Now/Equality Now people as good as we can on (and up to) June 23rd, organize screenings, advertise them etc. - and of course celebrating Joss' birthday. All we ask in return is for people to have faith in us and support the Serenity Summer Campaign, especially Serenity Day in September. Call me crazy, but that sounds more than fair to me.
If B!x objects to this, his own people are gonna start questioning his motives, if they haven't already.
Mind you, we're swallowing our pride here, and doing what is best for all, therefore showing everyone who's really "better than", even without waving the banner of charity around.

Anyways, June 23rd marks the beginning of the Serenity Summer Campaign, which is gonna include Shindigs (BBQ Shindigs, even!), conventions, asking cast members for support, rallying the troops, spreading the word to fans and non-fans alike, and lots of jolly merrymaking - we're gonna have an awesome summer! And then, we top it all off with a massive shindig and buying frenzy on Serenity Day on Sept 30th, which also has good symbolic meaning and could influence the Christmas sales. And we'd have more than enough time to actually do this right.

Okay, so it's only a draft, but you get the drift. The draft-drift. Everyone should be able to live with this, if not do a happy dance. There was even some people asking for more than a day - well, how's 3 months? With enough missions and Shindigs to keep us interested (while not eating up all of our spare summer time), and enough time to plan S-Day right, spread the word, save money and maybe get cast members to support the cause (I think any of our BDHs would gladly give us 5 minutes of their time at a convention to record a short video with some encouraging words), this should rawk!

So, what's your take on a "Serenity Summer Campaign" starting with Serenity Now/Equality Now as a pure charity event and ending with our Big Damn Serenity Day on September 30th (and possibly more screenings, then?), with aaaaaaaaall kinds of shiny stuff and happenings inbetween?

but i think i got buried again, seems to happen a lot to me. *sigh

Well, I was summing up just about everything about the idea from the other thread exactly because of the confusion of hundreds of pages of discussion. So if we can keep the people who aren't interested in the process - but rather the results - in the loop with threads presenting solutions instead of problems, it'll be a lot less confusing, and people won't just quit because they think the whole thing is overwhelming.

Thanks. For both the compliment and the cookies, my two favorite "C"s. "Campaign" was just added recently, though.
Now let's hope people like the campaign idea as much as I like cookies.

Hey Agatsu.

A campaign, eh !? Although i´d like to keep things straight and simple, I like the idea somehow. And it seems to be a clever way, to solve this tricky situation - nicely done.
What intrigues me most, is the fact, that we´re going to have an all new signature discussion! I´m looking forward to that!!

By the way: in retrospective and looking at all this argueing, the "browncoats unite!"- slogan wasn´t so bad at all, wassit?!

Kaele and others seems pretty adament on June 23, and I don't blame them. The they should know is we're not abandoning the June 23rd plan. We're still going with it and then expanding it into three months with the support we gain from that day.

I think June23rd is a great day to kick the whole thing off.

I think the idea of a period of time to promote FF/S is fantastic. After all, didn't build Rome in a day.

This is a very good point, with the SSC no one is trying to take over anything or discount anyones ideas.

Why don't we go with the campaign thing, then?
The internal Browncoat situation wouldn't be US and THEM, but rather US and MORE OF US! So if BrowncoatsRiseAgain have already planned something for June 23rd (or Serenity Now/Equality Now, for that matter), we'll all be there (hey, wouldn't wanna miss all the fun, anyways!), thus making the BrownCoatsRising Event bigger, and they'll be there for our common cause on Serenity Day in September. And inbetween we'll all mingle and be merry with each other on the Shindigs and Conventions.
B!x is probably throwing a fit right now, but my guess is that it's too late for the BRA-guys to back off, with the article in WIRED and all. So B!x is gonna have to accept that June 23rd is out of hand, literally.

This hwai shows why we need to work together - I mean, nobody even heard of BrownCoatsRising.com planning something big for June 23rd, and we have to find out through Wired Magazine? Wtf?
