Um..the gun's not working.
*She hands it to Seryn, who looks at it briefly.*
The safety's on.
Oh. Well. Maybe you could...?
*Serenity looks down.*
I'm sorry. I got blood on your shoes.

"oh no worries, they've had much worse on them, I remember this one time this guys brain just exp...
ok, lets not go there. ...Serenity? You doin ok? Don't wig out just yet."
Serenity continues to look down, not answering, and Seryn can't tell if she feeling shock or just examining the patterns in the blood.
She walks over to a couple of tables heaped with stuff, happy to find her own guns there, and... well, a few others besides. "oh baby...." she breathes.
"The way I figure it, between us and the Tree folk, are a whole bunch of hired goons. *Indicates Heinz* Guys like that need a lot of people to order 'bout. No idea where they are or how loyal to that pile of dren they are, but... until they get told, they're gonna keep fighting.
So the question is, do they exist, how many, and do we fight our way out, or do we wait for the Tree-folk and meet half way? Personally, considering the kids, i'm for the second option..."
She picks up her belt and hangs it round her hips again, then picks up her hip flask, the one time whiskey now replaced by cordial, and hands it to the other woman.
"But more importantly, how is junior? Oh, and your shopping is safe, Sparky picked it all up for us."

Moments Earlier:
The ISSCV rumbled as it flew through the skies of Commerce towards it's destination. The tremors did nothing to calm Needy's already unsettled stomach. Maybe it was nerves. Or side-effects of his recent trauma... or possibly he had just ingested too much chocolate in the chocuzzi, whatever the reason, it wasn't making him feel too good.
The fact was, he feared what exactly he was getting himself into. He had been handed a Beretta by Safe which seemed to indicate that he would indeed need to be armed for possible battle.
Considering what happened the last time the companion handled a weapon, it's no wonder he's more than a little worried.
But surely there was no reason to be.
He had seen the doctor prior to joining the rescue who had pretty much told him, as unfamiliar a situation he was in, that he was in no real danger. Even he was to be shot, past experiences had proven that they did not affect him. Whatever had happened on Boros seemed to have altered his body chemistry permanently.
Bullets couldn't cause any real damage, not anymore. The doctor had simply told him that he must focus his mind so as not to be overcome by what he thinks he should be feeling.
"Mind over matter" Needy repeats to himself, again and again.
The ISSCV stops and Needy watches as Soul prepares himself to be lowered from the hatch. The companion looks on in admiration, respecting the courage and confidence displayed by the man in question.

If they get those guns online, this fight is gonna get a bit too messy.
Soul looks around at the confusion and makes a break for the Dagger.
Now it was Needy's turn.
As nervous as he was, something in him told him that all would be well. Sure his instinct's hadn't been right in the past, but for once in his life, he felt confident that he could do this.
Whatever waited for him out there could be no worse than sitting waiting inside the confines of that ship, doing nothing. At least this way, he could make a difference.
He approaches the open hatch and, after looking down at the ground, realises that it's not so far down as he had expected. In a moment of adrenalin, he takes a chance and jumps from the ship to the harsh ground, rolling as he lands.

Getting to his feet, Needy could not hide the large grin across his face. He felt like an old fashioned hero - similar to the ones he grew up reading about and had watched in movies. This was the life.
A shot rang out whilst he felt a slight thud as something hit his back.
The gunman behind him had wasted no time in attempting to take out any potential threat. Only this time he had failed.
Needy reached his arm behind his back and felt the hole the bullet had left, whilst the blood that covered his finger told him that, yes, he had indeed been shot.
Turning around he faced the gunman who, after some hesitation, fired another shot at the companion, this time hitting his stomach.
Needy looks down and watches the blood seep down his leg. Then he looks back up and smiles.
His smile is due to a number of reasons.
The fact that the doctor was right, bullet's cannot affect him.
The fact that last time this happened to him, he was brought close to death, but not this time. But mostly the smile was due to the fact that for once, Needy had the upper hand. And nothing could stop him.
The gunman gets to his feet, and in a state of panic, begins firing off shots one after the other at the bulletproof man that stands before him. Only one more bullet actually hits him, the others missing completely due to the shooter's shaking hand.
"Wh... wh... what the hell are you?" The gunman stutters as he staggers back, his gun now out of ammo.
Needy continues to smile as he thinks about a reply. Should he just shoot him there and then with the weapon Safe had given him, or do something far more... fun.
"That's kinda itchy. That bullet. Really..." Needy digs his fingers into his shoulder where the third bullet hit and prizes it out. "...itchy."
Needy starts to move closer and closer to the would-be-assassin as he discards waht was left of the bullet on the ground.
"It's impossible!" the man gasps
"No, what's impossible is that you had... what? Six shots? And only half of them actually hit me. I mean c'mon, you couldn't hit a space cruiser two feet away."
Needy now stands above the cowering gunman.
"You should be dead!" he whispers in fear.
The companion grins slightly before bending down to see eye to eye with the man. "I already am"
The gunman's pulse races as all colour is drained from his face.
There is only one thing left for Needy to do.
"BOO!"
The gunman jumps back and flees in terror.
Needy rises, an accomplished smile on his face. "Fantastic!"

Huh? What?
No, I'm okay, just...that's a lot of blood.
*Takes a sip of whatever Seryn handed her to drink. Hands it back.*
We have to get out of here, Seryn. Heinz was saying something about Blue Sun, and that's NEVER good. Also, he said that GPS tracking wouldn't work in here, so they probably have no idea where we are.
Are there any swords on that table? Or long metal rods even? I don't like the guns so much.

Shadow, hon? Can you press that green button over there. It’s a buzzer for Tre...she’ll know what it means.
Ah bugger, I left the comm on...sorry. *comm off*
Trey steps onto the Bridge.
“Hi, Weirdgirl. Did you call me?” She consults a dataslate. “Here is a list of everybody still on board the Sereni-Tree, as far as I can tell:
“There’s you and the two little girls Shadow and Ghost.
“Of the Brides there’s me here on the Bridge, Jet down in Engineering, Bobbi is still recovering from her injuries on Boros, and Bride7 is slinking around somewhere.
“Of the old crew, there is Ebonezer still sleeping in her nest under the pool table, Jake7 in a gun turret, Montanagirl was last seen in the jacuzzi, Doctor SimonWho in the Infirmary, and Xander / Ash somewhere. The Ebo Golem is sort of working, but it’s quirky since it got damaged. I wouldn’t trust it with a delicate job.
“Of the newer folk there is Washie the counsellor, Witchy the medic, BeautifulDisaster, and RiverClone (unless those last two turn out to really be the same person).
“Then there are some folk we haven’t seen in a long while (at least five threads) who MIGHT still be on board: Bluefishie, Elwoodmom, Lissa, Malicious, Monkeytail, Needleseye, Piffle101, Rat, Static, and TheGreyJedi.”
She looks up from the dataslate. “Everybody else is either kidnapped or else off rescuing someone who is kidnapped.
“So, got orders?”

Over Garrison City:
Still in her slinky red party dress, Quincey pilots the helicopter back to the hanger where the Ocean Cloud was parked. She keeps an eye out the window for hazards and pays close attention to the instruments and controls as she speaks. “Wisp, glad to meet you. You can call me Quincey, or Quin, or Bride5, or Mei-ling, or Miss Kuin. Actually, Sereni-Tree has a pretty big crew, and there are a bunch of unattached females. I mean, there are six of us Brides left, and none of us has a Groom. Not anymore.”
“Not anymore,” Deuce agrees sadly. “But of all of us, Jet might have had something going with TheGreyJedi.”
Quincey continues. “Right. Jet, she’s Bride4, was pretty devoted to Grey, but Grey and Needleseye seem to have run off together. I doubt she’ll carry a torch for long. There are Ebonezer, Piffle, and Bluefishie, but they’re pretty young. I think ThatWeirdGirl is between boyfriends right now, but she has her eye on our Doctor, SimonWho. They recently found out that they’re going to have a baby together some time in the future who will grow up into our crewmate PsychicRiver. There’s Jake7 and Montanagirl. BeautifulDisaster and Witchy are new. River-clone has a body again. She’s really smart, but she’s not right in the head. Then there’s Ash. Ash is nice.”
“But Ash has two heads,” Deuce adds pointedly.
“So? She’s also the Shindig Goddess. Good with parties. Ummm… yeah, I think that all OTHER females on Sereni-Tree are attached, one way or another. Not sure about Seryn.”

Over Garrison City:
Deuce looks worried. “Hey, Jadehand is still bleeding pretty bad. Any of you a medic?”
Quincey drops the helicopter on the tarmac. It is not a gentle landing. She looks around the cabin. “Okay, you guys said that Jadehand finished building that shuttle of his. Check his pockets for keys.”
While Wisp goes through Jadehand’s pockets, N0Skillz takes another look at his wounds. “It’s this belly wound I’m most worried about,” he says. “He must be bleeding internally. We gotta get him to a hospital.”
“Or to the Sereni-Tree’s Infirmary,” suggests Deuce.
Wisp holds up an object dandling on a chain. “Is this thing a key?”
Quincey grabs it. “Let’s find out!” She walks ahead while Deuce and N0Skillz carry Jadehand to the hanger door, followed by Wisp lugging the weapons and Shadow padding silently behind. Quincey and Wisp drag the door open.
The hanger is empty.
“Gorram it!” Deuce curses. “Here I thought we were home free! Who stole our gorram shuttle?”
Quincey studies the key, then she presses a button on the it, deactivating the SEP field. The Ocean Cloud appears before the group.
“Oh, right!” Deuce says, sheepishly. “I forgot about that.”
“Get him on board. Make him comfortable.” Quincey rushes up to the cockpit and starts bringing systems online. She activates the com. “Sereni-Tree, this is Ocean Cloud. We have a medical emergency. Prepare to receive a patient in, uh, ten minutes. Multiple gunshot wounds.”
The voice of ThatWeirdGirl comes over the com. “Understood, Ocean Cloud. Also, we have an Alliance cruiser in system.”
“Wonderful!” Quincey takes a quick look behind her to make sure that everyone is aboard and the hatch is sealed. She takes a deep breath, turns the SEP field back on, and takes off.
