Whoohoo! Browncoat parents unite! My 12 year old daughter went into a serious period of mourning when we saw you know what in the BDM. The six year old has taken to calling the monkeybars at school "serenity" and maintains that he is Mal and the rest of his kindergarten class is his crew.
funny thing is they seem to go with it.
It is a scary thing to see a six year old with charisma.

has some great shirts for "little damn heroes"

Vaughn, I actually like your additional verses. Let's face it, the original song is pretty but nothing spectacular. We just love it because... well, because it's attached to that pretty show we love so well. Your verses are a good addition.

C'mon Universal, and greenlight the sequel!

Quote:Agreed... they're very much in the spirit of the show. And they scan and rhyme, sorta, if you squish them here and there...

I don't disagree on any particular point.

I've not fully converted mine yet. My 15 year old daughter did go see Slither with me. My 10 year old likes to watch the episodes with us, but he's not convinced yet of the power they possess. I'm still workin' him.
Vaughn, lovely additions to the song.

Heh, my car broke down the other day and I had to go rescue my wife and kids. Looks like it's the head gasket :(
When explaining that if it is more than that, I said we might need to get a new car.
Morgan (6) chirps in with "sometimes somethin' breaks, can't be fixed"

Further cuteness...
My 6 year old daughter, who has a Kaylee fixation, has now taken on some of the lovely engineer's personality and mannerisms.
In particular, whenever "explaining" something to someone, or asking for something, she will point and announce, "I'm pointin' right at it."
She even gets the wide-eyed, "are you stupid or something," expression on her face.
I think I've created a monster. I'm just waiting on a note to come home from school.

I like to wear Eastern dress to church. Sometimes it's a heavily embroidered kaftan from Syria, sometimes it's salwar kameez from India, sometimes it's a lengha choli. This time I wore a pantsuit. Boring. But I did wear a pink flamingo pin with it. Mr. Grizwald commented approvingly that at least I wasn't dressing like a Companion for a change, but then our son chimed in with, "No, she's Badger today!" I said, "What?" And he said that Badger wears a flamingo pin. Which I have never noticed. Lil Sharp-Eyes sure did, though.

Oooh, I have a story!
My 5 1/2 year old daughter has never watched a whole episode of Firefly (some parts I'm not ready to explain yet), but I make her sit through the opening credits. I'm trying to teach her the song. She has an uncanny ability to remember characters, and for someone who has not watched the show, she can name all the characters as they're shown. Her favorites are Inara and Kaylee.
Today she had a friend over and as I was walking past her bedroom I hear them calling each other Kaylee and Inara! Then I hear my daughter refer to Captain Mal (I think it was one of her stuffed animals). I had to pop in and ask if Zoe and Wash were playing, too.
She also had me draw Kaylee, Inara, and River on her DoodleBear (to go with the pic of Serenity I drew on it ages ago).
Sorry for the long post!

Glad you did, Grizwald, cuz I'd missed the last part of this thread and I like the extra verses!
Great job, Vaughn!
Now I have more to sing when I'm walking around singing this at the top of my lungs and my family is lookin' at me all funny.
They like the song... just not my voice, it seems.
No little ones who love Firefly, but my 13 year old grandson will visit soon and I think "selective" episode viewing is in order.
I'll let you know, but I'll bet Mal will be his new hero before the summer is over.
"You hold. Hold 'til I get back." Mal
