I thought "the body" was one of the most powerful episodes in the series. isnt it one of the only episodes where there is no background music or am i thinking of something else?

I just watched this again(it's been a few years).

It doesn't get old, and remains one of my favorite tv episodes ever created.

I did much the same, falling for Firefly, then going backwards through the Joss 'verse.

Great Buffy ep, btw. I wonder if they know ( writers, actors, etc ... ) exactly HOW good a episode like that is going to be when they first think of it, film it, and such.

Dunno if I'll be watching that particular episode any time soon. A bit too close to home, to be honest.

Gotta be it, though I just saw it the one time, so far.

Joss et al got it right, w/ the silence and no background noise, just the acting on the screen.

I've been rewatching all of Buffy in order with a friend who has never seen it before, and when we got to 'The Body' we had to stop and go back and watch the commentary (Joss' commentary is ALWAYS worth listening to, it is full of insights about what and why and how...)

It is such a powerful episode.
