Well, not exactly, Safe. Or rather, no. However, I am considering creatures with heads shaped like giant spears of asparagus!

Happy Birthday Amy!

WoW All! Thanks for the kind words- I certainly don't feel brave- tho stressed is a good term right now.

As for the humor - well if I don't laugh, I'll cry -so laughter it is

Slight update on Tim - that explains part of his behavior- seems there an "unofficial" contest? race? between the guys going to see who came get the most done before they head off. Not that Tim admits this- I just got an email from one of the wives who was concerned about her hubby suddenly trying to be Bob Villa. She and I did a hmmm moment via telephone after that and called a few more spouses; seems like alot of the more competative (sp?) guardsmen are really going all out to get their civilian lives in order.

Bless 'em I still don't know whats up w/ not talking about future plans but I'd bet there another contest/race/bet on that subject too. It just makes too much sense and the guys have done stuff like this before.

The entire situation is so hard to describe, no one in their right mind wants to go and leave their loved ones and happy live. But they do want to serve. and it's so very hard to get even close friends to understand that Tim wants this. No he doesn't want to leave a comfortable bed and restaurants and me and the cat. But he does want to go and serve his country and maybe help other people and to do that leaving is part of the price he agreed too.

and Gah I still can't properly put it into words.

But anyway Thank you all for being here!

Group hug!

Finally finished cleaning up the mess, under Flechette's supervision, Safe grumbles his way to the engine room.

There was more than enough cleaning there to keep him busy for a while.

Flechette, I definitely understand about the laughing versus crying--I always pick the same one you do. Did you ever see Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times"? He wrote the song "smile though your heart is breaking" for the end of it. [It's a beautiful (and funny) movie, and that song title has always stuck with me]

I feel a little better since you said some of Tim's behaviour is just a competition among the guys. I was pretty worried after your first post. I hope you will give us his military address when he leaves so we can send him letters and goodies. I'm really into Anysoldier.com and I would really love to send him something when he goes. Will he have a copy of firefly to take with him? If not, perhaps I shall "organize" one for him :) Please let me know what stuff he would like.

Big hug, Amy

Heya!

Believe me Amy I was worried about Tim too! still am but it's more normal worry now.

And yes we do have a spare DVD set of Firefly for him to take with him- it was one of the first thing we bought last time he went :D

I know he'll love letters and goodies so I'll be certain to pass on his info once he's over there. We got a while yet, as it stands-

April 1 - June 11 : premobilization: Tim home every night - by day he's getting helping get the unit ready to go

June 11-Aug31 (dates very iffy) Unit at Ft Dix NJ doing other premob activities

Sept 1 -? mobilized and over in Kuwait for up to 18months tho likely not actually there that long.

Aside from anysoldier another good site is www.treatsfortroops.com Tim was signed up with them last time and got a ton of stuff. I just hope he was good about returning the thank you cards. You can either send stuff to any soldier registered with them or specify a soldier. It worked great for all Tim's bachelor buddies to go online, choose something, and pay via credit card.

He took up making chainmail the last time he went over, I wonder if he'll do that again...

anyway - Thank again all for letting me vent some pressure, back to work... drats!

Michelle

meanwhile on the outside of Destiny
Jazaf stands on a wing and looks confused at the hull damage.
'You want me to put the what in the where?'
Jayne shakes his head disapprovingly, 'This ain't no way to help out.'
Amy wanders out side rubbing her sides for warmth and asks Jayne 'How's the repairs going?'
'Going? It ain't even started yet! That Sha gwa
doesn't know a wrench from a lead pipe.'
'I heard that! I'm a Navigator dammit not a Handyman! I wouldn't be up here if I didn't have to repay you for that thing .....back in the snow.' Jazaf decided to cut it short since he didn't feel like having every crewmember knowing his dressing habits.
'Gorramit boy! I already told you five times! take the blowtorch, soften the metal and then use that mallet in your hands to pound it back in place!'
'Is that really how you do it?' Amy whispers to Jayne.
Jayne watches Jazaf finally acknowledge the instructions be fore he turns to Amy and replies in a low voice, 'Hell no. I just told him that to keep him busy. That metal is designed to withstand the heat of breaking atmo there is no gorram way he can fix it the way I told him to.'
Jayne chuckles to himself as he and Amy head back into the ship.

Jazaf stands there, blowtorch in hand, when an image of a Lollipop forms in his head.
'....Dammit. I feel like a Sucker.'

Damn Jazaf! That was funny!

Sorry, nothing to add today. I'm headin' out on vacation to Florida first thing tomorrow morning.

I've never been, so it should be a blast. My little girls are literally bouncing off the walls.

Really good to hear from you again Flechette. Keep your chin up.

Oooh, going to Disney? Have loads of fun!

I miss Florida. I hope the weather's good for you.

Flechette-I'm so glad things are better now. You're a strong, brave woman and I know Tim is so thankful to have you by his side!

Please please keep us posted and send us his info. I'll be glad to send him stuff when he's overseas. He's be bombarded with browncoaty letters and goodies!

How to tell you spend too much time knitting Jayne hats: a piece of yellow yarn fuzz has somehow worked it's way onto your keyboard at work.

(Sorry, I can't think of a single thing to add to the storyline right now.)

Hey Needy,
I finally got to read the first handful of chapters of Dale/Safe's Boros adventure (it was awesome, by the way) and it was funny 'cause I expected you to be this shrunken little boywhore and instead you were presented as the handsome dashing companion. I had forgotten to disassociate what happens in this crew from...whatever else :) It made me realize how much these characters had taken on reality in my mind.

Scary!

Hope everyone is doing well (busy, I'm going to guess). I've been sick the last few days which has been bad for my standing at work but good for catching up on some other stuff (like Dale's writing). And I finally got to listen to some of the commentaries on FF (never yet heard 'em) and they are hilarious.

Cheers, Amy
