When was Buffy born?

In the season 1 DVD, I noticed something weird... and it's not something that I usually notice. In "I Jane, You Robot" they show a screen with Buffy's student file. First it says she was born in 1979 (and I was like, hey that's cool, same year as me), but then the scene switches and it says 1980. THEN in "Nightmares" Buffy's grave says 1981! 1981 makes the most sense, but which is it?

Buffy had her 21st this year, so it would have to be 1981. That works it you track it all the way back -- her 18th (Helpless) was/aired in 1999. Surprise (17th) was/aired in 1998.

Usually when they make a mistake with dates, the latest date is the correct one, or is considered the correct one from there on out.

It would only make sense, if she were a sophomore in 1997, that she were born in 81 rather than 80 or 79... unless she'd been held back a few times.
