Of course it'll be betrayed now and again but that's the risk of it all. I'd rather trust have the friends and family I do now, even though on occasion they may or someone along the line will. If Mal really didn't trust anyone he would have NO crew, then we'd have no Firefly.

Then you sir are a more of a brave and adventurous soul than I! I rather be alone without the benefit of friends and family than be betrayed. I decided after the last betrayal that left me floating about in deep space without the benefit of a toothbrush, that I shall never again allow my defenses to drop for anyone for any reason. God himself could ask me to trust him and I will tell him to go fish up a tree. God and Human's cannot be trusted in any way shape or form, and that is the plain truth as I see it.

I trust everyone
I trust everyone to be human
So basically if you stand in the way of someone's goals or pleasure you get bulldozed.
Yep my greatest betrayal was none other than dear old daddy.

Who has betrayed you?
In the course of my jaded existence I have been betrayed by 4 people…the last one was, well, incredible, and the price of that insane encounter was $78,000 plus my soul, and a score of friends, who just happen to be in the way.
Trust is an interesting thing. Looks great on paper, but in practice it’s a complete waste of time because in the end you can’t trust anyone, or is it just me? Am I the only one in human history that has ever been betrayed, or are there anyone willing to step up to the plate and tell their story of woe. To tell their story of betrayal that they did to someone, or was betrayed themselves.
Like I said, I know this belongs in Troll Country, but I shall allow the pieces to fall where they may.
I say we blow the main charges and let God sort ‘em out

What was your tale of woe? You gave us a summary but you're asking people to post theirs without posting yours first. My father decided that drugs and gambling were more important than his family. Now im 19 trying to help my mom and sister. I work, but i try to take some classes too cause im gonna finish college one day, just not as early as i'd thought. We have no home, just recently rented an apartment, no realestate though, nothing to say is mine. One car, two bedroom apartment in the lower end of our neighborhood. So yeah, in a way I was betrayed since I was little. Everytime my dad decided to do meth or gamble our savings, he betrayed us. But i trust my mom and my sister, and i have some family that i would trust because we grew up together. Some family i wouldnt trust. You just have to analyze and think who you can trust and who you cant, not everyone is out to betray you.

Hiya River 6213 no daddy did the betraying. Ditched me off on Grandma at 13 because I was too much trouble. Basically I started fighting back against my verbaly and mentaly abusive stepmother and was ruining his chances of becomeing a preacher at his own church again. It sucked but I've gotten over it, at least on good days.

Man, my complaints are starting to look pretty trivial.
The betrayal which still smarts and comes first to mind was by my professor/graduate advisor. One of the guys in the lab stole my speaking position at a scientific conference and referred to me using The C Word in his lab notebook after I caught him stealing chemicals from me. My advisor let him get away with everything until I went to several people in the administration. Graduate school only sucks because there are so many a$$holes here.
Why can't I just use violence to solve my problems?

Jayne: I once hit a guy in the neck from 500 yards with a bent scope. Don't that count upstairs?
Book: Oh, it'll be taken into consideration.
Jayne: You made that sound kind of ominous.

I found out later that day that another reason I got fired was because my co-worker in my classroom (daycare) ran to the boss and told her a handful of lies about how I never did any work.
I can relate to that situation in a way. I used to be an assistant manager at a retail grocery store and the store manager was pretty much useless.
Pretty much what happened was he didn't do any work and screwed my schedule over to set me up. Then I told HR and the district manager but they didn't really do anything. The employees that were under me knew what was happeneing but there was nothing they could do. I told him to knock if off or I was leaving. So after he played stupid I wrote up my 2 weeks right then and there.
Then from other contacts in the company I heard some nasty rumors flying around, some not appropriate for on here, in which I have no idea where they came from. Oh well, I lines up a job 2 weeks later in which I'm happy with and still working at. The place I worked at fell apart since I left, considering my boss fired a lot of people after I left. Glad I got out while I could, then I also know he's going to the special hell.
