I also forgot to mention... my one true non-god... the man who took scifi out of the dark ages and made it great. George Lucas (ok he wasn't TV, he was movies).

But he's still a god cuz he's from that same era, and he was the best. I can forgive the last 3 movies and his laxadaisical laziness about finishing up what he started. He was the best (and still is).

But he's brining SW to TV. That worries me. I think he's finally about to sell out once and for all. I hope not. Gotta wait and see.

Of course you're trying to be a dick. Stop lying fool. I can smell a set-up on you from a mile away. Ask me a question with no simple or short answer. What shows do I agree to?

Wow. You're an asshole. The intellectual approach? I was asking you a fucking question. Not everyone is out to get you.

Ok dude I'll grant you that. I am, indeed, an asshole. And if in fact you were genuinely asking the question for the sake of discussion, then you have my apologies. I was figuring you'd give me a laundry list about how lame all the scifi shows I DO love are. It's exhausting having to deal with the bait-&-switch sneak attacks. And yes, each of the scifi shows I list(ed) has something retarded about them, but taken as a whole, the good tends to heavily outweigh the bad.

Don't mind River90210. She's president of my fan club (which as you might guess, is comprised of most of the people in this forum).

To finish up answering your question, the remaining shows I like are:

(1) "Most" of the Trek Cannon. I loved "Next Gen" ~was brilliant from beginning to end. I thought Voyager was decent.. started out great (great premise), then began to drag. I was about to quit watching it (as I did with new-BSG), but then they added the large-breasted Jeri Ryan into the mix (wearing a catsuit). Lust saved the day (and the show for that matter). Deep Space-9 for the first few years was just bareable. Sisko was weak and effeminant and the plot was overly-political and dull. Scriptwriters have probably never known a bonafide black military officer. It's a shame. I've served under many of them and they are strong fine men. But (3rd season I think it was), they had a change of attitude. Sisko shaved his fro, grew a goatee, and roared back to life ready to fight the dominion. No more mister milquetoast. And they added Worf (fuckin "A" ~ Klingons rule!). Enterprise was hideous. Final season was great, but everything else stunk like hell.

(2) Farscape ~ it was a trip down the weird and wild-side. If it was anything at all, it was unique. Strange at times, but overall was a great show. Note: here again, the show got axxed by scifi channel even though it was their highest rated show at the time. They promised the Jim Henson company a full season, and on short notice broke their promise. It ended terribly (leaving fans like me pissed). Thanks bonnie hammer. But, they wrapped up the plotline with PK wars which has to rank right up there with Star Wars in my book. What a friggin great show that was.

(3) Lexx. Which was just too weird to explain. Because of how bizarre (and utterly unique it was). The same reasons why it's weird are the same reasons I couldn't stop watching.

(4) Babylon 5 ~ which I only moderately enjoyed. Some people get all freaky over it but, I dunno, it was a decent show but didn't send thrilling shivers down my spine.

Ok, that covers everything in the past. Now the present.

(5) Stargate SG-1 ~ I absolutely love the first 8 years of this. It's one of the single best scifi shows ever put on the air. I'm not too sure I like where they're going in this last season (the "Ori" enemies replacing the defeated Goa'Uld are ok, but this whole King Arthur thing is just tacky as hell). Plus, after the way scifi chan whored the Farscape stars (Ben Browder and Claudia Black), it's nice to see the dynamic duo back in the saddle again.

(6) Stargate Atlantis ~ ok I've saved this one for last. I didn't much care for it in the 1st season, but I've slowly warmed up to it and this whole last season has converted me. This has rapidly become probably the very best scifi show I've ever seen on TV (with one exception).

Finally ~ the exception. Firefly. Although it was only 14 episodes, no scifi show ever made me fall so in love with it. Whedon definately found his calling. I hate that it's gone. But then, hey, such is the fate of scifi when it's in the hands of idiot executives and political hacks. Thankyou network and studio whores.

Long thread so I do not know if this comparison has been made yet.

All space shots are silent with music for both TV shoes. BSG always has those badass drums beating.

BSG is a great show, Firefly is just a better show, or was that The Best Show. Never thought about Firefly being the best show I have ever seen...that is kind of depressing in retrospect.

Hey man, thanks for the appology, no harm done. I know how it can be over the internet.

I agree with most of the shows you listed. As a matter of fact, Next Generation is on the tv in the next room as I type this.

But ya, I like what you have to say about the other shows, except Lexx. That show must be too out there for me to grasp at, oh well.

It was funny, when I told my brother that Ben Browder was going to be on Stargate, he merely said "Ah yes, Stargate SG-1...the show where all sci-fi actors go to die". It's almost like Farscape is trying to overrun Stargate, but whatever, I love it. Valla Maldoran is a great character, it makes Claudia Black that much hotter.

Anyway, good travels!

Umm... River?

You trying to pull some psychic shit on me? I can't read minds darlin. You typo a "non-message" or you sending me a telepathic comunique?

She's prolly sending out dartboards to the fan club that feature my face.

Temporary reprieve from the 90210. I better strap on a tin-foil headwrap to block out psychic shit and start wearing a bullet-proof vest.

She, the abandoned, and the ejected cartridge of what we would like to call life, looks around her. She, the spent and used shell looks about knowing that it‘s all a useless endeavor. Her mind shakes, and stirs, and she attempts to pull together a proper sentence. And then she does, with shades of broken dreams, and blackness disguised as white honor only to be stomped upon by the sinister people who sit in parks and sing to the sun, and laugh at the rain.
Xeroxgravity, you are like the abused, whored-up brother-in-law that I never had. Shut your mouth you stupid idiot, or I will cut off your air supply, and you will end up drifting about like a nugget of nutmeg in the winds of time, which pretty much adds up to nothing more than a fart in the wind.
The new BSG is something we all like, so the hell with what you think. We now are subjected to a long wait until October for season 3…why pour salt on a wound that is already a wound itself? Why be the pig you are? A duel of Two Faiths we shall forever be. While one thrives, the other dies.

It all comes to a clash at the end…it always does

Take your bed-wetting self to another thread if you don't like or agree with this one, and yes this is a thread for people who DO like the NEW BSG.

There are many copies

And none of those plans have anything to do with Xeroxgravity

River honey,

You're going about this all wrong. By responding and/or directly challenging the troll, you feed him a big ole pile of mortar and lime to gobble down.

The only way to deal with a troll is to IGNORE him. Let him post his spleen. Let him rant endlessly on about whatever it is he is ranting on about. ... ignore the posts.

Don't feed him, River. Do what trolls hate the most. Tune him out. He doesn't exist. Ignore him.
