BSG Season 2 finale..

Yeah, but who in their right mind would ever believe or trust a cylon EVER again? Thats what really bothered me. The Cylons were hell bent on wiping every last human in the galaxy off the map and now because they say they made a mistake everyone becomes complacent.. just doesnt wash with me. No one in the military would ever fall for that.

While this greatly bothered me too, I will say in the military's defense:

They didn't fall for it, Baltar did. Though I hated Adama turning into a pansy on what was clearly a military matter. Didn't they have an agreement on the seperation of powers?

Adama fell for it to the extent that he allowed his military vessels to be severely compromised. There should have been a military coup as soon as Baltar started to endanger everyone. Just my humble opinion :)

Yeah I agree with you there. Look how much of a pansy he's become in just one season! Cause last time a president wanted to go to a crappy planet on a Season finale, look how that turned out!

I must have missed the coming back in October part. I saw the finales for SG1 and Atlantis; they are coming back in July. I guess I assumed BSG was too. That sucks, how can they have Sci-Fi Friday without BSG? Unless they're going to use Dr. Who.

Even though I'm starting to resent the way the show ended, I still shouldn't have to wait till October so Dr Who can be feisted on unsuspecting BSG fans who'll tune in in August only to be horribly disappointed!

I think the whole thing is a dream/premonition sequence...one of those "this is what will happen if Baltar is elected" flashes.

Next "season" they will end up going back to before the election, which will be a shame because the current path looks kind of interesting and fresh.

Well, it's not like they're sneaking it on people. They've been talking up Dr. Who's addition to the line-up for months, and have made it public when BSG will return. And there are plenty of people really looking foreward to Dr. Who (though I'm not one of them).

They kind of deserved it too. Why? First, they don't know the enemies not out there; they just can't see them. PLUS! Why did nobody question the preacher's (whose not in combat gear and fairly unruffled) presence? Think about it. From Starbuck's point of view, it's kind of understandable. He could have been with the football dudes and she just didn't notice him in all the shooting. But what about her boyfriend? Except why would they bring a preacher and not even give him combat gear?

The Cylons are pretty easy to spot. Reflective metal doesn't blend with trees and plantlife.

Also, I believe the preacher was with Anders' group. When Starbuck and Anders met up, Anders mentioned that their base had been found and attacked. Most likely, they took in the preacher thinking that he wasn't a Cylon and the preacher gave away the location of their base.

Why doesn't the preacher have combat gear? Maybe they were too busy running from the Cylons to notice he wasn't fighting.

The military was in the habit of trusting Sharon on occasion. It's not a stretch to believe that, after a certain period of time, they'd latch onto the notion that the Cylons might be telling the truth. Everybody was so tired of running and living on the ships that they probably wanted to believe they were safe. They wanted to live a somewhat normal life. Which is why people dropped out of the miliatry when they could. They were just tired. Remember the episode "Final Cut" in which Adama and Roslin had D'Anna Biers make that documentary? The people in the military at that time were it. There were no reserve troops. They did their jobs no matter how exhausted they were and they never got a break. So when the time came when they began to feel like they were safe, they started taking advantage of it. It wasn't just a cut and dry "Okay, we believe the Cylons." It was something that took place over many months. It was a gradual feeling that they could maybe begin to relax now. And once you get that feeling, why would you want to go back to the way you were living? On the run, tired, seemingly no end in sight. They didn't suddenly trust the Cylons, it was more of a psychological thing where they convinced themselves that they were okay now. And there's really nothing Adama could do about that. I'm sure he felt a bit of it himself even though he, as well as others, felt it was their duty to keep watch.

Also, they thought they had a good hiding place. In actuality, they did. The Cylons wouldn't of found them had that nuke not been set off.

I hope not. It is an awesome way to end a season but a stupid way to ruin an amazing story line. Are the writes are so desperate for stories that they decide to make that a dream? Every other story decision has been pretty good why do something that has been done on nearly every other Sci Fi show. I've only see something like this on one other show. Alias has a two year jump and they did a good job with it. The writers are better than that, Plus what do they gain by having it be a dream? Laura a president again? They can impeach Baltar and then have a new election. What do they gain if they don't have the Dream Sequence? A place to do even more amazing things with but we will have to see.
