Chinese study groups?

I've been looking for a good excuse to learn chinese for a while. Now that a LARP character of mine speaks Cantonese in character (and i don't), and my newfound obsession with Serenity brought me choice Mandarin phrases, i think now is a good time to start.

has anybody else formed study groups, either in person or over the 'net? if so, how'd they go? if not..wanna?
