*smiles around his cigar*

Now you guys are starting to make a little sense.

*winks at Kaylee*

I don't get nervous around naked singularities... or menage-a-troisularities for that matter.

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back.

*limps over to the com and keys it on*

Pain, Jack here. If you're with the Captain tell him, the Tech Twins seem to think they can reverse this naked hubcap and give us some extra juice...well actually they're giving us back our own juice, but that's beside the point.

*looks back to Rocket and Kaylee working in the access port*

You might want to get back down here Pain...

*whispers into the Public Address system*

Kaylee's got her shorts on.

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back.

*just then Mal runs into the galley with Pain right behind him*

Pain: Cap said he wanted to you to tell him in person.

Mal: What in the tyen shuh duh is goin' on here? What's this about a glowin' hubcap thing? Kaylee, Rocket, Jack got any answers?

Pain: Oh hey there Kaylee nice *gives thumbs up*
(Note: not good at writing anything for the cap.n so somebody else can do it)

First the ship bucks like she's about to blow and now I here somethin' about a glowin' hubcap thing in the galley floor. Care to explain?

Well Cap'n, judging by the fact that this thing is marked in Old Russian, I'd guess it was manufactured in Georgia System -- which would point a finger at your old buddy Niska.

*Kaylee makes one last adjustment; the blue glow lessens, and the ominous hum becomes markedly less ominous.*

*Kaylee wipes sweat off her forehead.

"Serenity's been kinda itchy around the grav systems lately," she says; "That's why we were doing early maintenance."

*Examines the leech delightedly, as if it were a cute little puppy.*

Nice piece of engineering. Well, fer something that was intended to suck us all into a teeny-tiny black hole, that is."

*Rocket sighs from deep, deep down..*

Gentlemen, is there any of that brandy left? Or anything else dangerously alcoholic?

*smiles and hands Rocket the bottle of brandy*

Nice bit o work...have a few dozen on me.

*notices cane off in far corner and promptly ignores it*

Guess I should be gettin back to the Infirmary for some antibiotics and some shut-eye. Miss Kaylee if you wouldn't mind, would you help me down there...I seem to have misplaced my cane.

*leans on Kaylee as they shuffle off toward the Infirmary*

*Jack turns back and winks at Rocket, Mal, and Pain*

Night fellas.

*Jack's last statement fades off as the two depart*

Yeah I know you're only takin me down here so you can see Simon. No I'm not trying to be a smart a.......

(Night Fellas see you all tomorrow for another Day aboard Serenity)

*looks at Rocket as Mal heads back to the bridge*

Well this certainly has been an interesting day. I think I'll go to my bunk to get some rest.

*at that Pain walks off to his bunk*

LOL LOL LOL.

Oh, Sweet Baby Buddha!

Dropping out of character here for a minute.

Genties and Laddlemen of the audio radiance, thank you so much for aiding and abetting me in my little act of improv-slash-thread-hijacking. I'd never intended for this little storyline to last so long into the evening, but the web site's shut down caught me half-way through my plot.

For the record, if tomorrow's thread (and I do hope there is one) contains anything but rest and recreation, it won't be my fault.

(Although somebody has to get to work on forging those receipts...)

Back into character now, to close up (literally):

*The leach fully drained, Rocket disconnects it, re-connects the grav-plumbing back into its proper configuration, replaces the access panel, and attempts to drag the table back into place. As before, it doesn't budge. He shrugs, pulls a chair to the table instead, and takes a major pull on the brandy bottle.*

Long day, good ending. We're still flying. It'll do.

*One more swallow.*

It'll do.

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity." -- Gilda Radner
