I suggest you do so yourself, Jonestein. The second and third posts in this thread were by folks who didn't understand. If I don't understand something, I don't immediately and publicly declare my ignorance. I wait for clarification, or look stuff up. When these folks said they couldn't understand what was perfectly clear to some of us, they just set themselves up for the response they got. It's not really a hard concept to grasp, after all. If you don't get a subtle joke, would you want someone to ruin it for everyone by explaining it step by step? Hardly.
And why would I want to DISCUSS something I couldn't understand? Re: Bill Buckley, I have in fact corresponded with him, and would readily discuss sailing or shooting with him, but would never ask him anything about, say, Whittaker Chambers, about whom I know nothing.
Well then I guess we can agree to disagree. I see nothing wrong with "I don't get it." And a couple of "I don't get it" responses immediately followed by a condesending insult is nothing more than the juvenile "needer-needer, I'm smarter than you" attitude mentioned earlier. G-man could have simply waited for more responses instead of opening immediately with an insult.
By the way, this is a Firefly fan discussion forum, not a conservative politics discussion forum, so your Buckley/Whedon-Analogy comparison is ridiculous.
But I'm sure everyone here is impressed that you've corresponded with Bill Buckley, which I suspect was the impetus behind your comparison in the first place.

This topic still has steam?
"Huh"
Some of you foos are wrapped a little too tight for my taste, to each his own eh? Methinks there are some "Alliance" among us, pretending to be Browncoats. Too many of you so worried about making this a "Better" topic, alas don't fret I won't hold it against you. It is what it is people, no more, no less.
Joss used Firefly as a trigger to transform us into Browncoats.
Blue sun used the fruity oaty bar subliminal to trigger river into a weapon.
Thanks for playing
P.S. Don't waste your time, you cannot make me angry foos
AM I NOT MERCIFUL?!?!?!?

You're a joker, boy.
You sure you didn't get a worthless film degree like I did. I can write a 10 page paper on how "We are River" and "Joss is Blue Sun People" .... I'll even write you a 20-pager on the thematics of oaty bars in firefly. (I didn't see any oaty bars, but i can still write the paper).
Seriously, if you want to take a look at your tonsils backwards, go rent some Godard, Felinni, and Rosellini.
I know BS when i see it. You're out for kicks.
Your a strange son of a gun, I'll give you that.

yeah, thanks, i think we're all quite clear on that now. i agree with jone in that there's nothing wrong with a few i-don't-get-its. its simply a heads up that something may not have been clear (as it wasn't).
g-man, w/ the exception of insults directed at your self, implied and otherwise (more then a few of my own, theres no hypocrition here. thats a word. really.), and hell even including those, no ones overall goal was to "anger" you, or even really call you down that much; just to point out to you a few possible flaws in your, ah, "attitude" if you will. only not as condescending as i made it sound.

ok, so then don't make it more. a few of us try to point out how maybe things could have been handled, or certain things shouldn't have been, and by so doing we're suddenly try to make people better by imposing our will on them? a flawed and double-bladed argument, to say the least.
apart from that i've nothing new to say, i pretty much covered my opinion earlier, and it seems to be reiterated before and since.

Ten, or twenty pages Techy? Jeez, I'm geting sleepy with just the thought of reading that. I never was much for Book learnin. A friend argued with me awhile back when i told him that reading is "fundamental", he told me you're wrong, reading is "Fun & mental", after much laughter I concluded that he was right.
Wishing I was one of Kaylee's strawberries!

You've got a lot of gall correcting anyone's spelling.
You got one; good on you!
As for the rest of your post, you got it all backwards: it was agirlyman who decided he was superior, or a better poster, or better writer, or better reasoner, to everyone else. That's what got him into trouble in the first place: you reap what you sew.

"Reap what you sew"? Am I the only one who got this clever joke?
Clever, Asarian. Quite subtle, too.

Okay, here I am, proclaiming my ignorance. Sorry, but when I don't understand something, that's exactly when I want to discuss it. How will I learn anything otherwise? If someone else thinks I'm dumb when I ask questions, so be it, but I'll stay dumb if I don't ask those questions.

Sheesh...I'm glad SOMEONE with intelligence got that one.
Neener-neener.
(there IS no typo...)
And I'm glad someone's got a discernable sense of humor. Wit is such a rare quality these days, wouldn't you agree? And speaking of 'witless'...
re: The Androgynous Guy (or is it about gender confusion? I'd ask him, but I'm sure I'd just get some unintelligible raving as a reply.)
Actually, I've got nothing against trolls, per se, I'd just like to get a higher quality of troll around here, just for a change of pace. Scathing commentary is a lot more thought-provoking when it's, I dunno, how about scathing, for starters? Or at least articulate? It takes all the fun out of getting insulted when you have to consult your Moron-to-English dictionary in order to even read it, let alone understand it.
Trying to decipher what some dumbass is trying to say, only to have him turn around and bite people who are -- more or less -- politely asking him to explain himself, and then claiming he is their intellectual superior... It's just bad farce.
And anytime you've got Ruxton on your side, you might wanna think about contradicting yourself, pronto.
So, to reiterate: I just want some proper trolls, instead of these posers. Like my dad always used to say when he caught a little fish: "Run along home and send back your papa".
Wistfully,
zoid
P.S.
Please note: My intent in this thread is not to insult the trolls, but rather to show them how it should be properly done. You see, I believe the children are our future. We should teach them well, and then let them lead the way.
