Like I said, it's certainly not intended as a slight or insult to Rancid. After all, there are definitely WORSE things to be influenced by than The Clash or Joe Strummer. Like Nelly, f'rinstance. ;)

Agreed that the Ramones were at the forefront of punk, even if they did sell out 20 years later. But lets face it, the whole point of the Sex Pistols was to sell out, which they did brilliantly. So the Ramones don't lose their "punk" status simply because they eventually did the same. My bet is that almost any punk band offered the opportunity to make mucho dinero would do the same.

The Avengers
X
Anti-Nowhere League
The Pogues

Yep, its "old school" for me.

Filth and the Fury is a must see. I was lucky enough to see it in the theater.

All of them. It's why they're number one on my list.

"A huge schism in their material." Better than beating a dead horse, I think. Much like the Clash (and yes, they are HEAVILY influenced by the Clash), Rancid likes to try different things. Steel drums, harmonica, harpsichord? Why not? I don't see a problem with throwing in ska and reggae with punk. Of course, everyone has their own tastes.

And I'm curious, have you listened to all of Indestructable ("that new bullshit", I assume), or are you judging it based on "Fall Back Down" and "Red Hot Moon"?

Flogging Molly (I've never seen a pit erupt like when they were on)
Dropkick Murphys (Similar experience with FM, just not as many people)
Streetlight Manifesto (Primarily ska, but has the punk attitude)
Suicide Machines (Ska/Punk, Destruction by Definition is amazing.)
Bad Religion
Green Day. Still doin' their thing.
Millencolin is pretty good, too. Gotta love the Swedes.
