Will Joss kill off another character in S2?

I aint reading through this hole thing, so I'll take a guess nobodies mentioned this yet. (When I searched for "drama" nothing came up)
Joss killed off Book because he just aint needed any more.
He killed Wash for dramatic effect. Might not have been the BEST way to do it, but he did it. Joss wanted to put a scare in our hearts, and take out that sense of "Movie ending! Yay! The crew will kick their asses and live to see another mighty adventure!" He wanted it seem that big, big enough that anyone could die at any time. This was the most important thing in the 'verse, well, ever.
Joss writes real. He writes what would be the probable thing to happen in a situation, not the fake one that everyone wants to see. As he puts it, "Where else are you going to see someone shoot a horse?" If Joss feels it necessary to kill off another protagonist, so be it.

ASARIAN, the commentaries are very, very good. Remember these two words (three? does a contraction count as one word or two?): "I'm BUSY!"
As for the topic at hand... my astute analysis:
Jayne'll outlive 'em all.
Inara's toast.
Zoe won't die cuz she'd never leave Mal (especially not after Inara bites it).
Joss loves pain, and Jayne's death would come up short on that count (though I could see him leaving). Inara and Mal's (lack of) relationship has always been painful, but that seems to be resolving itself into something less painful - potentially happy, even; Mal losing Inara would then be crushingly painful. Zoe's already in pain, and we haven't had a chance to see how she copes. In light of Mal and Inara's happiness, I could see her thinking of letting go, but after Mal's loss of Inara she would find her resolve in his need. River's life is pain. I see her potentially finding some peace with Mal, post-Inara. Simon and Kaylee? Either one could go, but neither need to. I'm sure a relationship as rocky as their courtship could be painful enough for everyone.
'Course, maybe Joss'll just kill 'em all. All except Mal. Mal is the 'Verse's designated recipient of all pain. It's just something about his eyes...

You people are way too eager for Serenity 2. Calm down and wait for official word.
But we all KNOW that the 'verse aint over, just like Earth CAN'T be the only inhabital planet in the universe. Not like we'll ever get to one (thank's to the oh so true theories of Einstein, we know it's not impossible, just impossible for us idiots to travel to the next star).

HAHAHAHHA!! I agree, but I would keep Simon and the others if we could bare. I mean who else would help beau--- eghem err River
.Maybe he should die trying or something, or get captured by the alliance and like suffer a tortue 'till he dies of shock. Now that would be fun to watch.

I don't think anyone has said anything about it looking bad for a sequel... That I know of.
It's possible, I saw on a forum post some guy had a bunch of sources (that were linked from the forum post) that said that the movie profited Universal.

Joss is always willing to kill characters. It's a proven fact. As for our beloved crew:
ZOE: Do you really think any of us are gonna get through this?
JAYNE: I might.
See, there you have it. Everyone dies but Jayne. Just 'cause he's my favourite (also probably because the lowest common denominator always survives and Jayne's often perceived as being cockroach-like).
Seriously, anyone is fair game. More than likely there will be someone new on board who'll take the hit.

Maybe River gets turned into a Reaver and then organizes them together. She leads an attack against the Alliance. Mal and the rest of the crew join the battle and Mal gets his revenge. It's just a little difficult to see River's face all cut up, mutilated, paper clips and needles sticking out of River's face (sorry asarian).

This quote cortesy of OldFogey's earlier statement:
If they're going to add new characters, I vote for some Asian crew. Where are the Chinese guys? It would be fun to see... oh, not Andy Lau. He's almost as pretty as Mal. Wait - that would be a good thing. Yeah. Andy Lau.
I completely agree with the Andy Lau sentiment! That would be sweet! Have any of you seen "Fulltime Killer"? Great movie!
Anyway, if anybody has to die it would be the 10th crew member, our beloved boat Serenity, a-la Star Trek 3 (is that the right one?). A move like this would be highly dramatic, affect and crush every member of the crew as well as the fan base and force major creative changes within the show/movies dynamics and yet it could still be brought back without having to evoke any evil spirits or anything. Am I right? Of course, I wouldn't WANT to see anything happen to our lovely home but imagine the impact a move like that would have. Then, imagine if one of the other crew members were on board when she went down! What a way to go! I can't imagine any better way to die, if I had to pick a way that is. Either way, talk about some high drama.

Obviously, I hope Joss won't kill anyone off in the next installment of the show, but if he does, it'll be someone we don't expect.
After watching the series a billion times, I get the impression that he always planned on killing Wash at some point. There are so many references to the potential for Zoe dying that I think it was a deliberate mislead.
Jayne won't get killed for the same reason. He has the highest probability for dying, given his position in most of the heists, and for that reason, he won't be killed.
Simon is the obvious choice to be offed, since it would seem that he has little or no purpose now that River isn't nutso anymore. But I suspect that he will live because he's the obvious choice to die.
I hate to scare off the River-lovers, but I see the greatest potential for her to go. Now that her secrets have been revealed, she isn't as necessary to future plots. Plus, her going will create great angst for everyone else, particularly Simon, who will lack purpose without his sister.
Actually, it could even go the way of the earlier discussion: someone on the crew—maybe enen Simon himself—killing her out of necessity and/or kindness. Kinda like a futuristive version of "Of Mice and Men."
Then again, I could just be talkin' outta my ass. ;-)
