Will Joss kill off another character in S2?

Can we move this conversation in a "not Jayne's death" direction? It's making me think that Ye Old Heartless Wonder here might be mistaken about that missing organ.

Only slightly more seriously, I hate the idea of any of the crew dying. I mean, Simon's not my favorite, but I still don't want him to die. It would destroy a very important part of River, and as much as I hate to put (yet another) smile on Asarian's face, the BDM/BDS wouldn't be right without her.
The ship may well be what holds this rag-tag group together, but River is what gives them direction. In many, many cases, her being around made the wind blow, and as our illustrious Captain says, "Wind blows northerly, I go north."
Kaylee? No way. We need that genius engineer. Serenity talks to her, but Serenity obviously didn't talk to Bester (a supposedly genius mechanic).
Inara? Possible, but I don't want to think what that would do to Mal, who is also indispensible.
Zoe? God, I hope not. She's already suffered enough. She got through the war. She got through her husband's death. Maybe if it were a quick death, I could deal, but something about her lifestyle tells me she'd fight to the end, and that end would be messy.
Wash and Book were bad enough, folks. Let's not borrow trouble!

Apparently it's hinted at a few times like Inara's physical, something about her mentioning not wanting to die to Simon on OoG .. .Oh! and we can't forget THE SYRENGE!!! (Dum dum DUM)

Well put, that's what lead me to believe Joss intends to get Mal and Inara together. Only to have them ripped apart by Inara's secret.

Thanks! I haven't listened to the commentaries yet (remember, I'm only at this for 6 weeks now). And every time I plan to, lol, I just get so emotional, what with River and all, that I just want to see the episode!

Well I'm starting to now lean in the Jayne direction. Jayne doesn't like Simon because Kaylee likes Simon. Jayne is Jealous, I can see him trying to kill Simon. Then River or Mal or even Simon kills Jayne.

Simon's obsession with River is borderline creepy, and he has revolved his life around taking care of her. If he actually killed her, that would casue some sort of screwed up anomalie in the verse, and a huge black hole would be created onthe spot .. . they'd all get sucked in and we'd be transported to another demetion where firely never existed, and . . .

Anyway, I think he' kill Mal n that situation.
