In your brightest moments, what are the thoughts you entertain, and hope to see fully realized?

In my brightest moments I see all mankind united in a quest for the common good, and a sincere love of each other, realizing that hatred and violence really belong in the background of our genetic makeup, and need not be brought to the forefront so quickly, only to harm ourselves.

I see a world of hope and pain, a world where we don't live happily ever after, but instead happily mostly after. A place where we can believe fragmented and contradictory things without hurting each other, where we can have conflict without getting out of hand, where, though we may not feast, we will not go hungry.
On a personal level I want to grow old among people I care about.
On a less deep level there are two places I'd like to live, one is the permanently grounded Firefly class ship Dreamer of Dreams that exists only in my mind under the, "If I ever get insanely rich I'll build this," section and the other is a very real hotel room in Florence (the most beautiful city on the planet) within walking distance of all the good sights with a stone spiral staircase in the two level room. That exists in my mind under the, "If I ever get insanely rich I'll buy the hotel and use the payment from guests to pay my cost of living," section.

I also entertain the enduring belief that Corporatism will reach a critical mass, and the public will force them to banish the 'bottom line' in favour of 'profitable is enough'.
Then our children will come first, as they should.

Well, that didn't take long. I had hoped to see more personal, real life comments here, instead of the standard political rhetoric.

Making people better.... seems to me that I saw some movie which sorta sent a message 'bout that. Hmm....oh well. I'm still naive enough to think that those who live their lives by example are often the best teachers. "Monkey see, monkey" do sort of thing.

For realistic, possible futures, I'll take cigarette smoking a thing of the past. I even believe that it can happen in the next century.
For just plain old dreaming, I hope that someday war and genocide will be way, way down. Maybe a few percent of what they are now. That happens through understanding and shared TV channels!

I don't know about a better world. When things seem the brightest and going really well I can't help but wish that things were just a bit worse off.
Its too warm, too sunny, I have too much money, too much success, my girlfriend is too hot, she wants us to have too much sex, Serenity is too good a movie, the War on Terror is too successful, liberals are too inept, my DVR have too much TV for me to watch, that dinner was too good, the fridge is full of too much beer, there are too many good games on, the Judge is giving Defendants too much time in jail, I have too much hair, my car is too cool, gas prices have come down too much, my puppy is too smart, this post is too long, too eloquent, and finally my office chair is too comfortable.

*Nitpicky part- Corporatism has more to do with economics, I think, than politics.
*Major area of concern- The quest of the almighty dollar is bi-partison, and as such I am singling out no particular party. To assign 'political rhetoric' to my post is like saying I'm bashing Bush if I wish for world peace (Hmmmm....Naw, I won't start
).So, what am I being now, in your unclouded view, by wanting our children to come before corporate profits- too liberal or too conservative?
