No, I saw your post, so it's not invisible - to me anyway.
I just figured that IllegalArgentine person was talking more about all theatres than just theatres in one area, like you were. And I was contradicting IllegalArgentine, not you. But anyway, we leave in different countries, so that could likely explain why it was in theatres longer in my area than it was in yours.

Here, in Atlanta, Serenity stayed in the theatres until mid December--at least in one theatre that I know of. It was in three theatres until the end of November.

Depends on the venue. Marquee Cinemas in downtown Scranton had it for about 2 weeks, while Cinemark on Montage Mountain had it for about a month. I remember pestering my friends to go see it for about 3-4 weeks. I had already seen it once, the week after it's opening weekend, and wanted to see it again. Didn't happen, though.

You know what hurt Firefly? Years and years of horrible horrible sci-fi movies and shows written by writers who had never seen a vagina in their life yet trying to capture action, adventure, and love in their stories.
My buddy and I saw Serenity without having any idea what Firefly was and we said to each other, "Boy, I wonder how much this one is going to suck"
So we were a little surprised. I have a few sets of the series and a couple copies of the movie and I've been converting people ever since. All it takes is lending it to them for a couple weeks.

I think Serenity may convert more new fans on HBO then in the theaters. So many people who would have loved the movie simply did not know about it or were unsure of its quality.
There is a chance it may be discovered on cable tv this summer. I would not be surprise if that happened. When don't know if this will happen, but there is a chance.
I know naysayers think that this kind of thing is impossible, but it really isn't. People often discover movies out of the theaters. There is this movie that came out over a year ago, but recently it got on the top 15 vido rental list.

I initially saw it alone -- on the first day, then begged both my nephew and cousin to go -- and after vainly waiting for them, it was too late, as "Serenity" was out of all the local theatres.
My recollection is more like I pleaded with them for 2 or 3 weeks. I could be wrong, though. As Queen will undoubtedly attest, I am (on rare occasion) wrong.
(Parenthetical thought: Why am I grinning about being wrong??)
