I watched Shindigagain tonight. When Badger goes to Serenity, he knocks on the door with a 36 inch aluminum valve wrench. We use them at work all the time.

btw, that house I mentioned in Alexandria, Minnesota, that looks like it has the heat-shielding like the Heart of Gold? Turns out it's copper-sheet siding. I mean who would think of such a thing? The copper is turning purple now because the owners haven't seal-coated it, but when the sun hits it just right, it gleams.

My mother is now my biggest reminder of Firefly.
She has seen all FF episodes up to Shindig, we watch one every night, and now she frequently says “gorram” and “shiny” (except she spells is “gorrham”). The wall paper on her computer is a picture of Mal, Jayne, Wash, and Zoë. She knows I can’t stand the thought of Jayne and River hooking up, so the last e-mail she sent me read- “Jayne and River sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. Love mum.” Gah.

I spent the next hour of driving time thinking about how the Tam family made their fortune. First, they changed the spelling of the name (reasons are endless) then staked some kind of mining/land claim on one of the core worlds. Then they eventually sold the rights, made a huge profit and invested in the stock market of the time.
Nothing ever makes drive time fly by like background story work.

Last night I actually saw a firefly. They're rather rare where I am, so it was kinda lika treat. I never realized the that the illuminecent color of a firefly's abdomen is really very close to the color of Serenity when she "fireflies off."
AND
Last weekend, I attendended my best friend's wedding. I wasn't sure what the plans were for the whole day, so I asked what the plans were once we were done with the shindig. Shindig isn't a word that I normally work into my vocabulary. I just opened my mouth, and out it came.
