Don't know about microwave guns, but in the early '70s, (a time of campus riots,) word was the military was researching the resonant frequency of the human rectal sphincter muscle, with a view to creating a "sonic cannon" that would render mobs incapable of combat. Problem was that frequencies that low are nearly omni-directional, so it impacted the folk deploying it as well as the rioting mob.

Actually, many of the armed robberies committed in the US are done by people who get all "hopped up" on crack, coke, etc. so they can get up the nerve by feeling invincable.

You have to remember, the government that started this whack-a-doo chemical program was the same government that tried to assassinate Fidel Castro with both an exploding cigar AND an exploding conch shell. I am absolutely, 100% not kidding.

In other words, no idea is so ludicrous that *some* government employee won't think that it sounds like a good thing to spend millions of dollars on.

Regarding the parallels between "Agent Buzz" and the Pax in "Serenity", it is kinda creepifying to think about.

The celts where seen as Barbs to the Romans, one reason being they had their wine pure, fresh, and unwater, in other words super strong, and they were feared because they seemed without feer willing to die instead of back down even if the odds were very far away from their favour. One reason has been thought to be the super strong wine took the fear away.
