Yep, and he's absolutely right. Cagliostro is completely freakin' awesome on every level. I love Porco Rosso just a little bit more, but that's more of a personal reaction.

It's really incredible. Basically, any time a jazz great appears on Snow White it's a great toon. See also another Cab Calloway appearance in "Minnie the Moocher" and the surreal image of Louis Armstrong's head flying through the air and menacing our heroes in "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead You Rascal You". Unfortunatly, there's not a particularly good Betty Boop DVD collection available, but this volume is a) servicable and b) dirt cheap at five bucks a pop, and includes "Snow White" among others:

I'm not really one for cartoons and such. That having been said I have really loved watching some cartoons with my kids.
My favourites are :
Toy Story(s) - Many, many, many viewings.
Shrek(s) - Many, many viewings.
Incredibles - Many viewings.
Madagaskar - Many viewings.
A really wonderful childrens cartoon series that I would heartily recommend to anyone with young children (any age) is "Little Bear". Totally appropriate for children any age and enjoyable for the parents as well.

This has turned out to be tougher than I would have thought. In that I'm only going by theatre released animated features and not television or video based programs, such as the episode based shows I catch on US televison or through Japanese anime. Nor am I choosing from short format animated features such as the original Looney Tunes, MGM Cartoons, Fliecher Bros. Superman episodes, Disney shorts, Popeye, Terrytoons, ect. And believe me, not being able to choose from everything has made this quite the chore. :)

I read half this thread and didn't see a SINGLE aladdin, which, IMO, is the best Disney movie EVER!
I also like some animes like Akira, and Princess Mononoke, and the Evangelion movie/s, what with Evangelion being the best anime ever and all.

I'm going to have to go with the little-know (here in the US at least) "The Snowman", with music by Howard Blake. It's done in the old-style pencil drawings, and had no words, just music. It's absolutely wonderful, and I get teary-eyed every time!
