I've not seen some of the Animations listed, Titan A.E. and Lilo and Stitch are two I've wanted to see but haven't. Unfortunatly they came out when I was at Uni and didn't have the money for such things...
No excuse now though, really...
I loved Shrek, and Finding Nemo is fantastic.
I don't like Finding Nemo as much as my goddaughter...
Mention the word Nemo and she'll go nuts, shouting "Memo, Memo" until you break and put the DVD on...
Akira and Ghost in the Shell are musts for me too.
Anyone remember the animated version of Lord of the Rings? That was pretty good, not upto the latest films, but it was all we had for some time.
More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!

Quote:It was done by Bakshi around the same time as Fire And Ice, and I'd own it if it had a gorram ending!!!!!!

I've got it taped from channel 4 showing one Christmas back in the 80's here in the UK.
Man, half the fun is not fast fowarding the adverts, they're so dated...

Funny you should say that, when ever the cheesy 80's cinzano bianco advert comes on I kick off, just like River.
Must be subliminal messages.

I've got a ton of favorites, but the only one I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned is Nelvana's 1983 sleeper "Rock and Rule". Way ahead of its time, nearly bankrupted the company. Finally available on DVD.

As for a single favorite, that's a toughie, but I'm sure it'd be a Studio Ghibli film, either "Porco Rosso" or "Kiki's Delivery Service".

Cowboy Bebop! hands down.
Disney's Robin Hood
only one's I can think of off hand.
So Paramount & Dreamworks have joined up. So a friend of mine & I were envisioning....
"Shrek Trek"
DONKEY: Look Shrek! I push this button & I'm gone
(flash of light)
DONKEY: Then I push this one & come back.
(flash of light)
DONKEY: Gone
(flash of light)
DONKEY: Back Again
SHREK: Donkey!!! Quit playing with the transporter!!!

Huh. Well, I not only lived thru my own series of catoons, I got to watch the newer ones w/ our daughter. So...
Iron Giant. I love the story and Vin Diesel does a great giant.
Sleeping Beauty. It's so very beautiful.
Fantasia. But only parts of it.
And one that I don't love but I can't get out of my head because it was so goddamn interresting AND annoying: Fushigi Yugi
I loved the Frazetta illustrations, guess I'll have to look up Fire and Ice!

Please don't think they give a shit.

Wowsers, Fnordchan, you really know your stuff!!! Thanks for mentioning Cagliostro. I'm sure you're familiar with Spielberg's comment that it was the best adventure movie he had ever seen.
The Fleischer Snow White sounds very cool! Did you ever see the Fleischer short with the squirrels talking about the end of mankind in the great war? Any idea what it was called?
