How the hell do they know what other people are thinking...And I got my info from the-numbers.com so I ain't making this stuff up.
Um...f**k you?
You've been here for, what, a week? I remember three years ago, people saying "Firefly's over guys; you might as well give up hope now." I didn't. A lot of us didn't.
I brought 19 friends the first night; about half were Firefly novices (had never seen an ep). All of us loved it (except one gal, who said it was “just okay”); in fact, those not familiar with the show, it seemed, enjoyed it *more*, as they were less affected by...the things that would affect those who'd watched the show (I don't feel like doing the spoiler tag thing).
Anyways, I guess my point is, eh, f**k you. I may have already mentioned that. Don't come here and say it's over because things look grim to you. From my point of view, I can see that Universal's going to come away from this with a profit, versus the major in-the-redness of Fox after Firefly. I see that our odds now are far better than they were before...and I believe that the story of Serenity isn’t yet finished. You’ll see.
Come back here in three years, and see where we’re at. I think you’ll be surprised

-Steve

You posted this before, elsewhere. I had the rare privelege of reading it twice.
So, if I'm not prying *too* much, why are you wasting your time? You don't buy the general enthusiasm and optimism - so fine. Don't. But you choose to read it, and post completely negative responses - and then read more - and post the same response, only reheated. It's obvious you don't want to go elsewhere, where ssnsible people say things of which you approve. Therefore all this means is that you are looking for a place to defecate, and people upon whom to do it. And, if you don't have the energy to come with a fresh "feces statement," you'll microwave the old for us, nice and steaming hot.
Don't know why you're wasting your time. Don't know why you're wasting others'. Don't, as a matter of fact, know why I'm wasting mine talking to you. Has the pig learned to sing, yet?

I bought a comic book (his X-Men title) recently just because it had the Whedon name on it.
Hey! Don't be embarrassed! It's the only Marvel title other than that Runaways thing I'm even thinking of buying, precisely 'cause he's writing it.
'Sides, comics are cool again. :P
And the Whedon name is half the reason I finally gave Firefly a chance, personally - I loved Buffy, dug Angel, and... OK, so a board where I actually respect people's opinions, people kept saying how awesome it was (in a non-pushy way, too, which was great). That, and SciFi channel reran it. Nine weeks later, I was obsessed. :P The Whedon magic knows no bounds (hey, did you know the word "Joss" means "luck"? I believe it. Consistent creative mojo! :D )

I was all trembly and embarrassed about it, since I haven't bought a comic book in oh, about 20 years, since I stopped collecting them in college. Now I find there are more comic titles in the Whedonverse...sigh.
I've got all the Serenity comics now. :D Gorgeous first-editions, too (the Kaylee cover is so sweet, and I mean that in the "awww" way... because yo. Kaylee! It's one of the ones I have, the Kaylee cover)! I also plan to eventually check out Whedon's X-Men stuff and Fray, which was a futuristic Buffy sequel.
And did you know some imported comics have made the New York Times Best Sellers lists? Comics are cool. Of course, the Japanese imports making such a big splash have helped.
I'm a girl who is a regular reader and collector of comics. You know how rare that used to be? Not so anymore, thanks to "shoujo" stuff from Japan (I wonder if Joss has ever read Zodiac P.I.? Almost nobody's read the darn thing. It's adorable and got a strong female protagonist, but nobody reads it! Argh!).

I've been trying to get rid of my old comic collection for years now, and it looks like I may have to start reading comic books again. Just when I was getting used to reading books without pictures in them...
Dude, read some of the modern comics... that's not books with pictures, it's art with a story. :P
A good read you may enjoy: Neon Genesis Evangelion graphic novel series, published/imported by Viz comics, author (artist AND writer, more common in Japan than over here) Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. GORGEOUS art. Gorgeous. And the story's pretty good, and the characters pretty interesting, too, always a bonus. Best part is you can often get used copies for quite cheap on places like eBay (even new, the books are being rereleased in $10 graphic novels, which is pretty darn cheap all things considered, especially if you get it on sale or with discounts).
Also, Zodiac P.I. (authored by Natsumi Ando and published by Tokyopop) is a lot of fun, though it's slightly girlier and a lot lighter, and it ended after four volumes. :P
I was SO excited when I found out there's going to be more Serenity comics. :D I wonder if they'll have more variant covers? That'd be awesome. Wonder if it WILL be set during the series, or if that's part of the joke?
