...did it make me really appreciate Serenity all the more!!!!
ROTS was a hyper-kinetic, thinly written patchwork.
I enjoyed it for what it was (certainly much, much better than the previous two), but I'm glad I only rented it! I watched it twice while I had it, and found myself gettin' bored in many places the second time around. I guess I'm pretty demanding, but I have to actually care about the characters before I go all Ooo and Ahh over the things that happen to 'em.
If I want a movie with real adventure and real characters, I'll put on the original trillogy (at least until Dec. 20th, that is, then the ante goes WAY up!)
It's only a fleshwound Chrisisall

I agree with you. Just because the movie was better than the previous two does not make it as good as the original. When Mace Windu got killed, I did not care one bit.
Lucas made Samuel L. sound cheesy. How do you do that? The dialogue was so unnatural not like in Serenity.

-hey all-i personally hated ROTS, was bland and un-consistant to the former fiction (general grievous bitch slapped by obi-wan even though in the episodes of clone wars he fought 3 jedi masters and 4 padawans at once*cough*)also did anyone else notice the cheesiness of the whole darth vader transformation...was like george just wanted to shoot the dog in the head and make it go away.

Hell, I'll be the voice of dissent.
I really, really enjoyed Revenge of the Sith.
But then, I've been an obsessive Star Wars fan for a couple of decades longer than I've been an obsessive Firefly fan.
Now, I'm not saying it's a great film. It has lots of flaws, the writing is most definitly not up to the standards of Serenity, and it's still not nearly as good as Episodes 3&4. But for what it is, a Space-Opera, I thought it was very satisfying.

Erm.. ROTS IS episode 3.
I too have been an obsessive Star Wars fan since 77... (I feel sooo old typing that). The prequels dont satisfy me whatsoever. I do have all the Star Wars books and they nicely perpetuate the saga in my head.

Er... I meant 4&5.
Sorry.
I have to agree that 1&2 didn't do much for me. 2 had it's moments, but about the only thing 1 had going for it was the final fight with Maul. Personally, I hold 3 at about the same level as 6. Fun, but with problems.
I read the books for a while, starting with the first Tim Zahn book, but after abot 40 books about some remnants of the Empire building yet another superweapon, and out of a vast galaxy of billions of individuals (including, after a while, a whole new Jedi order), the only people who could do anything about it were Luke, Han and Leia. Now, I love those characters, but it just started to streatch credibility and my patience a bit.
I know it opened up character-wise with the New Jedi Order series, but other than Vector Prime, I just never had the time to keep up.

Saw a cool documentary on the making of the original SW, and man... THAT was awesome! Looking back at the times, the 'state of the art' that was FX back then, and what they had to deal with, I find it hard to believe Lucas pulled it off. Sure, there are XBox games that have better FX than SW had back in the day, but the story was so much better, especially in comparison to the garbage that passed for the last 3 movies.
I'll use any $$ I might have spent on SW dvd's and buy Serenity and the Angel Box set.

There have been quite a few great books set before and after the original trilogy so it's not as though people can't envisage anything other than just them. But it has to be said the prequel trilogy consists of three bad movies. Any film which makes the audience laugh in contempt at the screen (as I have personally witnessed three times over) is just bad.
So sad that it ended up this way. But there you go, three pieces of sith that outgrossed our movie by a factor of 10. Bah.
