Isn't the ratio of watchers to slayer/s too high?
I mean there's only supposed to be one slayer and there seems like a whole lot of watchers compared to the one. In addition it seems funny that the one slayer that the watchers should be all involved with doesn't want anything to do with them. P.S I'm only on season four

Well...the way I see it is...while the Slayer is where she's needed, there are Watchers all over the world, for different reasons:
-To find/train a new Slayer if she were to pop up in their area.
-Evil shows up 'round the globe, regardless of whether or not the Slayer is there. Gotta have someone to keep an eye on things.
-The Watchers want to essentially control the Slayer...maybe they figure one way to do that is strength in numbers.
Only on Season 4? Well, there's only a couple of episodes I can think of for the rest of the series where any Watchers but Giles play a huge role.
Simon: You...you came for us.
Mal: You're on my crew.
Simon: Right. I guess I just didn't...you don't even like me.
Mal: You're on my crew. Why we still talking about this?

Watchers are also relativly easy to find/train/recruit compared to slayers.
They can also die more easily, so replacements should be ready.

As you watch all seven seasons, you'll see that Watcher/Slayer dynamics are delved into a little more.
And that's all I can say about that.
