Gotta say I love the ideas being stirred up here. Though I should say the chicken playing river does not have to be Camillia. Just a crazy chicken. This is a rather fun thread though. I can't wait to see what some of the "artists" come up with.
Also I thought of Dr. Honeydew & Beaker as the Blue Hand guys.

What about The Great Gonzo for Wash, and Bunson Honeydew for Simon?
Prarie Dawn (who did appear on The Muppet Show) could be Kaylee.
Now, Piggy could do either Inara or Zoe, due to her strong personality and curly hair.
Wait, what about The Great Gonzo in drag for River? Or Beaker, sine he can't be understood and is paired with Bunson.
What about Book? Rolfe maybe? Yeah, definitely Rofle.
As you may or may not be able to tell, I'm a real Muppet devotee. Can you name 5 original Muppet Show characters (who were not people in costumes) who had real hands?

Lotsa ideas here for artists to work with. So in adition to COSMICFUGITIVE any other artists putting pen or pencil to paper?

Beaker is as a god. His delivery of the line "Sadly temporary" was the highlight of the otherwise disappointing Muppets From Space.

Sam the Eagle has to play Simon, they are both so concerned about being "proper".
Plus it makes sense for Camilla to play River then, as chickens and eagles are both members of the bird family.
A joke that bad actually seems like it could be from the Muppets...

Beaker could make a good River. He would have to be in drag though for it to work.
(They both are very brainy and insecure characters. Also, they both have that nervous, panicked stare.
