Finn, as always I don't agree 100% with you, but you gave me (us) a different take on the question I raised, and a good deal to consider.
I totally agree on the positive effects of our bases in foreign lands, and actually, my meanest post-911 knee jerk reaction to the attack was not to nuke anyone, it was to pull out every man and ship of ours out of the middle east, period. Imagine what would happen there after that...
Like I said, it was a mean thought, I'm not sure I was taking a lot of things into account.

Anyway, thanks for the view from the inside, as it were.

You get an A- Chrisisall

Before I complain about you calling me names, would you be so kind as to explain what a "Herbert" is?

To quote Spock, "Herbert was a planetary official noted for his rigid and limited patterns of thought."
But I was referring to you that way as a joke, since we were on a 'Way To Eden' riff from Star Trek. While I may believe your thought patterns may be somewhat rigid, they are in no way limited, so don't get peeved, okay?

Do we reach?

Yeahhh brother Chrisisall

SX, I feel you are taking this very important thread far too lightly!

Of course we should invade Canada. We must free it's people from the facist health care system, and establish contols over the comic book retail buisnesses!
Warp 1 comics' time is limited...

I pay for all my major surgery out-of-pocket, they can too Chrisisall

Nah - not France. Why do them the favor.

Let's see, Canada is too cold and how much hockey can you watch? Really?

How about New Orleans? The food's great (my gramma was Cajun) and the troops could get a drink.

Herbert is alot older than Star Trek, its been a term used to describe a disobiediant or 'tear-away' youth for some time over here in Blighty. Way off topic, just thought I'd throw that out there .

I know this isn't your point, but I'm amazed at how quickly the American administration, and indeed a great deal of American citizens, turn from a country without which the USA itself would not exist.
In my own little way I was trying to make that point.

No, i mean france.
Without France the American colonists would have almost certainly lost the war of independence for various reasons.

Norman co-ordinate? Are you suggesting my name is Norman? Because if you are...

You know, there is one place that we really should invade. Great climate. Varied scenery. Very small, easy to conquer. Speaks English. And, they prolly even think "they're" safe from "us". I've even been meaning to vacation there.
