On a more serious note, quite frankly France's reasons for being anti war were, I believe, far from a moral one, and more about the big Oil deals they had secured with Saddam, which are now, of course null and void.

The Trek refrence was that of being confued, ie: I, Mudd - the scenes where the androids are confused by what they don't understand, they say "Please explain", and then "Norman, co-odinate", the central brain that make sense of it all for them.
