Creepifying is right! I'm going to have a hard time getting rid of the sick feeling in my stomach after watching "Mal" as Caleb.

It was one of the best episodes of the season. It was also one of the most violent. I was surprised to see two potentials get killed in one episode; Buffy, Spike and Faith get they butts kicked by one man;and Xander loses his sight in one eye. It's going to be strange seeing Xander walking around with a eye patch, how is he suppose to be making jokes for now on when he's going to look like a pirate? Poor Xander!!!

Maybe he'll make pirate jokes...

said to me by a friend during commercials last night...

"whoever cast that guy did a f%&#ing good job. he's scary."

how weird was it to hear him using the drawl with words like "notion" and such? pretty darn weird!

damn. i miss Firefly something fierce.

"I'm still flyin'...that's enough." ~ Mal

Here's what wigged me about the whole thing: Caleb's a human. The Big Bad in Buffy has never really been just a human before (The Master, Angelus, The Mayor, Adam, Glory, and Magical Evil Willow). For me, at least, the notion that someone chose evil like this, not because of their vampiric nature or the trauma of losing a loved one, but just because they're bad, is far more distressing.

I guess we'll learn where he gets that strength.."What else ya got?" was a fairly chilling line.

So, I liked and admired Mal. Caleb scares me. And Nathan impresses me.

Yeah, I wonder what kind of powers Caleb has.

Yep, Nathan's performance was impressive, especially as we all know him as the good guy.

He was totally scary. But can somebody help me out with the accent? (Me = non-native speaker). I could hear he was talking different, like a guy from a little province town or something, but could somebody give me some more background? Where is that accent supposedly from? And what does it say about Caleb?

PS: I am totally shocked about Xander's Eye. The potentials, well, they are not long enough here (and they are too many, anyway) to get emotional attached, but to do that to Xander???

I took it to be a southern accent, perhaps southern baptist. Caleb believes he is righteous. Reminds me of the snake handlers from the appalachians. Truly scary, Nathan is just good.
