Sci Fi Channel unveils its new projects

Well, anger. I don't really watch anything on Sci Fi that isn't reruns (I only watched the end of Farscape because it was the end) and none of these shows really appeal.
Dead Lawyers:
How goddamn stupid is this. This show will not last more than six episodes at most. Why? Because lawyer shows are pretty boring and usually have to pull stunts to keep on the air (David E. Kelly I'm talking to you). What kind of stunt will a zombie lawyer pull? Limb removal? Plus, they'll try and really work up the redemption, pathos angle and blow it right to hell with bad acting (because Sci Fi can't really afford good acting. They lucked out with Browder)
The Divide:
Oh wow. The basic plot of Whoopi Goldberg's character from Ghost, stretched out into an entire season of television. Yeah, no way that will get boring. Just look at UPN's Haunted...or maybe not.
Legion:
Speaking of Sister Act, Whoopi attached as a producer. Great. What the Hell is this show about? They don't tell you.
Stargate: Atlantis:
Nothing pisses me off more than this show. I like Stargate SG-1: it's fun, has a pretty simple story, and you can skip a few eps and still get the premise. I also like Richard Dean anderson and Michael Shanks. Fun actors the both of them. What Sci Fi is thinking by setting up a spin-off, that will feature a cast of unknowns, with a premise that has been done before (and better by the parent show), probably cookie-cutter-same with the parent show, is beyond me.
Painkiller Jane:
This upsets me because the actual Painkiller Jane had a much better plot. It's a comic that was originally about a woman (I think a cop) that gets killed, then resurrected. Her powers weren't healing: she didn't actually have any powers. If she would get shot, she would die. Then she would wake up in a few hours (and I don't think she was healed up, she just woke up). All she did was not die, and I don't remember her being an "ultra-covert" (WTF does that mean? how does one become more covert than covert? invisible?) goverment agent, but I could be wrong. Another example of good comic book source material, and crappy, crappy reordering of concepts. Just like Spider-man.
Clive Barker's The Evil One
Anybody see Clive Barker's Saint Sinner on Sci-Fi. Good, don't. I like the "perspective of evil" thing, but you know it won't stay that way, because the audience always finds it hard to relate to evil. The character will have to be sympathetic in some way for anyone to care, and that will make it suck.
Total Eclipse:
If they played it up for more comedy than anything, it would probably be good. But no. Buffy rip-off.
Suture Girl:
Spawn is very bad comic. It took 100 issues of the comic to resolve the same amount of plot as the Spawn movie; both of which suck very very much. The fact that someone even pitched a Spawn spin-off character, especially one as stupid as this, frightens me and makes me wonder when the movie/TV comic book craze will end so I can stop being ashamed of my medium providing such crappy shows and films. I just thank my lucky stars for Bryan Singer and X-MEN 2

To be fair, ever since they were acquired by the financially struggling Vivendi Universal, The Sci Fi Channel has been under tremendous economic and political pressure to conserve money.
Hence their stepping away from starships-in-space types of shows. Intricate sets plus intricate visual effects equals a very expensive program to produce.
The scuttlebutt is that Vivendi is putting Sci Fi and its parent company the USA Channel up for sale shortly. A likely buyer is Viacom, which has toyed with the notion of producing its own fantasy/horror/science fiction themed channel for some time.

The problem is *NOT* any single show there.
Its the fact that *NONE* of them are true sci fi and they all sound pretty damn bad(yes, I'm not giving them a chance, but sci fi has pretty much shot my hopes).
I dunno about you, if I turn on the sci fi channel, I want to see at least crappy sci fi, not crappy fiction/lawyer/god knows what shows.
Prehaps they need to save money, but you *CAN* make cheap sci fi shows if you want, they just aern't trying.

Personally, they should brink back mst3k. That way there is the best of both worlds with bad sci fi and good sci fi.

Y'know...if they wanted good sci-fi they could have picked up Firefly...if they wanted good scary (rather than goofy dead lawyers) they could have picked up Haunted (which rocked). Actually a couple of the shows remind me of this show my lil' bro used to watch...hmmm...what was it called...guy back from the dead, sending escaped damned back to hell, tattoos to keep track...hmm...it'll come to me...pretty good show actually, had the chick who played Tank Girl as kinda a satellite character.

oh forevermore...and i thought the Riverworld pilot was bad. anybody else catch that a couple weeks ago? it was marketed as a new Sci-Fi original movie, but had all the earmarks of a series pilot.
hasn't the premise for The Evil One more or less been done (Buffy) and done (Gvs.E) oh, and done again (Angel)? The Divide sounds intriguing...almost.
hey! maybe if we all get together and start producing Firefly as a comic, they'd sit up and take notice!

"New projects on the Sci-Fi Channel"?
Whatever happened to the Sci-Fi Channel that would show classic science fiction television and movies on a regular basis? I enjoyed that Sci-Fi Channel, and I miss it. I think they should do what Nick at Nite did with TV Land. They ought to make their own Classic Sci-Fi Channel, where I can watch those 50-year old Twilight Zone Episodes I love so much every day.

The series you are referring to was "Brimstone."
Yet another FOX genre show that bit the big one before its time. The actress was Lori Petty.
